Newsie Is Here! Just released as 'freeware', Newsie is a utility that converts text such as this to a RipScript graphic 'newspaper' that can be displayed from most BBS systems. For example, Newsie can be displayed by a RemoteAccess or ProBoard BBS as WELCOME.RIP. Just rename the output file Newsie.RIP to WELCOME.RIP. Newsie can be displayed as a Wildcat! BBS bulletin menu. Newsie draws a text window just below the newspaper graphic. This is where Wildcat! will write the bulletin menu prompt. The newspaper (banner) name, editor in chief, and other settings can be customized. See NEWSIE.DOC for complete details. Mouse Support You can tell Newsie to create a mouse region. When this is done, the entire newspaper graphic is 'click-able' by callers. When it is clicked, all RIP windows are reset. You can even tell Newsie what to send when the newspaper is clicked. Freeware Best of all, Newsie is FREE! If that's not enough, commented program source code is included and has been contributed to the public domain. Feel free to enhance the software or customize it to fit your needs. You're encouraged to redistribute your commented enhancements to share with others and to help others learn more about creating software. From the Editor I know that Newsie isn't that sophisticated and it lacks a spectacular interface, but it is functional and outputs a graphic of a newspaper that looks pretty slick. I hope you can use it.
