PREVIOUS VERSION: V-EDIT 1.2, 1.3, 1.31, 1.32, 1.33 THIS VERSION: V-EDIT 1.40 Copyright (c) 1993 by Full Motion Net Software. All Rights Reserved. 1. Minor modifications to the "SQZ" format conversion engine, but totally re-wrote the rest of the program. 2. Added a command line file open option. 3. Modified path restore when viewing files in fcon. 4. "SQZ-ANSI" is now "SQZ" and is available. "SQZ" is a stand alone conversion utility. "SQZ-ANSI" is no longer needed, you might say it's built in to this version. Because of this feature we now pro- duce the smallest ansi files of any other editor. 5. V-EDIT is no longer memory dependant, ie: uses 102k max of ram plus avg. 285K program overhead. All reads and writes are to and from disk on a per page basis. Page = 24 lines. 6. Added 8 large character and symbol fonts. All fonts are external and can be modified. Additional fonts can be added in minutes, including, objects, mini screens, both in color and not! 7. Added a sub routine that recognizes multi-tasking enviroments such as OS-2, Windows, and Desqview. Now works from within PC board. 8. Added ASCII format conversion and identifier. 9. Added reverse block function. Reverses order and color sequence of blocked object. "ALT + F" from within block move command. 10. Added global screen character replace function. "F8" 11. Added page append to page commands. Adds a blank page to end of file ALT + a. 12. Added more help and command prompts. 13. Cut intermission conversion time by 41% 14. Modified paste, so that it works flawlessly from page to page, file to file, even after you quit and restart. 15. Added "NEW" draw feature. Dumps all restarts fresh. 16. Added "OLD" draw feature. Brings back the original file opened from any given drawing session. 17. Added more undo coverage. 18. Greatly improved test execution. 19. Added shell feature to file manager. 20. Added more compatability to other editor's formats. Including a method to display animation files, that use redundant code. 21. Instant manipulation of opened ANSI/ASCII files from FCON, without having to go to editor and back. 22. No more *.Bak files all output files are even smaller and don't require any supplementation. We re-wrote the editor to fit the file! 23. Changed page command function key from ^P to ALT P. In some machines ^P caused a device fault print error. 24. Added a "Make Font File" button to FCON. Now if you design a new font in either an ASCII format or color PCB format on screen, your file codes are converted to "V-EDIT font format codes". Function finds the file, converts it, adds it to it's font list. 25. Fixed minor error in ASCII format, when adding to a file that was previously under 24 lines. 26. Moved diagonal draw commands to main draw screen, no more F12. F12 now starts PCB Macro insertion utility, see below. 27. Made font files with full 94 key assignments, in other words all font sets include 94 different characters. Font sets 7 & 8 may not be complete at time of release of V-EDIT 1.3 28. Fixed "Alt + Number Pad" to print all ASCII characters instead of just up to # 136. 29. Added a set format/options default button. This will store & restore your selected 1 - 9 option buttons. If you only save & append in PCB format but view all your files in ansi, set the radio buttons then press the "DEF FORMAT" button, and each time fcon loads your settings will remain the same. 30. Changed the "is ANSI.SYS loaded?" Pre-test to a warning message in- stead of aborting to the system. This way V-EDIT will work with other "ANSI" drivers, but still remind you in case your driver is unknown. Modified the "VSETUP.EXE" file as well. 31. Opening a command line file; When FCON is displayed your file name will already be in the file text box. This modification was requested as a speed enhancement, for quick saving. 32. Files or directories containing the symbol "-", will no longer produce an "invalid format" message. 33. If your file was not found when opening from the command line, now you are given a choice of "creating it" or "starting V-EDIT" without it or "Quiting to DOS". This was a post beta addendum. 34. Added 3 new replace functions to block command. F11 replaces the character at the cursor position in the block with a new character specified by the current sample. Note: make sure the cursor is within the block, and on the character you want to change. 35. Shift F11 replaces all of the same color attribute at the cursor position, with the current Fg & Bg attributes. See # 34 note. 36. ALT F11 replaces the color of the specified character type, within the block, at the cursor position, with the current Fg & Bg attributes. See # 34 note. 37. As a post beta change, we changed F4 in the font utility to undo from start, and added shift F4 as the new clear screen key. 38. We found that in some ANSI files produced by other editors or hand made, sometimes they lack the final "ESC [0m" which changes the color back to normal in dos. When these files were loaded from FCON, this flaw sometimes caused unpredictable results. So now FCON repairs the file in memory before committing it to the temporary disk file and preforming its conversions. 39. When FCON displays, now the text in the text file box is highlighted, "selected", you can either preform any function, press END & add to it, or immediately type a new name, without have to delete it, as it deletes all by itself. Minor visual basic feature "sellength." 40. Added rotate function to block utility. F12 = rotates current block 90ø clockwise, and pastes at current cursor position. Out of range prompt and auto re-move are included. Attributes remain unchanged. Reblock for all four directions. 41. Added "Scan" SHIFT F11 returns the ASCII character #, and the fore- ground and background colors at the current cursor position. 42. Added the option, to save PCB code using the "@ POS:NN @" Macro. This function will reduce the size of your PCB format files as much as 25%. From within V-EDIT at the main level, use "ALT + M" to toggle this function on/off. Note: if it is on, the Make Font Macro, in FCON is disabled, unless your file is in ASCII format. You will be prompted. Once again, we lead the pack... In file reduction! 43. For the time being FFE.EXE, is on HOLD, while we are working on more important products at Full Motion Net. Maybe some day it will be available. In lieu of this measure, we added a prompt feature to the "Make Font File" function in FCON. We feel now using all of the File Manager's features, it is possible to create a complete Font file, without ever leaving the program. 44. By request from my partner, I added an "Un-Registered Message" to the opening V-EDIT screen, unregistered versions only. Hit any key and it disappears. Only displays once per drawing session. 45. Version 1.31 30 Day lockout timer bug fixed. 46. Version 1.32 Changed final saved files of VBBS, and PCB col. Pos. Formats. Internally we use chr$ 255, 0, 32 interchangeably, in order to parse for better code reduction. It was just brought to our at- tention that VBBS can not identify chr$ 0 and chr$ 255, and when at macros are used in PC board the chr$ 255 character bites the dust as well. So we added another sub to convert these characters back to true spaces before the formats are saved. Strange, how we have to make our program work around the errors of others. 47. Fixed the message timer so that it retains its settings. ADDITIONS FOR VERSION 1.40 48. As you can see, now, all of our documents, help files, and most of our internal "dude messages" have been converted to lower case. You can thank "an OLD FART, at Old Farts BBS, somewhere in VA" his complaints have prompted us to change the error of our ways. 49. Changed all feature commands from CONTROL something assignments, to ALTERNATE + something assignments. See HELP F1, or read "VCHELP.HLP" for the new key assignments. Sorry, I know it's a pain when you learn a program, then it changes, but we wanted some uniformity, we were starting to get out of hand with random, senseless assignments. 50. Added ALT + N, toggles ON/OFF the top clear screen code for both ANSI, and PCB files formats. If a clear, "@ CLS @" already exists in the PCB file, this function will not add redundent code. If the function is OFF, and the @ CLS @ exists in the file, the function will not take it away. 51. Added ALT + C, toggles ON/OFF subsequent page clears for both ANSI, and PCB file formats. This was a suggestion by "RON at SOLID ROCK BBS in CA" now you can make those giant scroll screens. This function also toggles ON/OFF the 24 line block save function, respectively. In other words, if ON will not CLS or add an ESC[2J to subsequent pages of a multiple page file, and will save in the exact amount of file lines, it will not pad out to the next 24 line interval. If OFF then it clears the screen before every new page, and pads out the last page to 24 lines. 52. Changed CONTROL C, center the cursor, to ALT + Y. 53. Changed CONTROL X, Y, Z, auto box draw functions to a cyclic function called by using ALT + X. Again see VVHELP.HLP for new key assignments. 54. Added F12 PCB @X MACRO INSERTION UTILITY. This unique function will not only allow you to insert an @ X Macro at the current cursor pos- ition, but replaces the existing Macro with a V-EDIT replacement, reflecting the actual size of what the code would produce if displayed in PC Board. These replacements are found in the file, "PCBMACRO.DAT." Upon saving the PCB file format, V-EDIT, replaces its codes with the real @ X Macro codes. Also upon loading, the reverse happens. The pur- pose of this is to allow you to see your screen without the MACRO size blowing the picture off the screen. Where ever you put a Macro is exactly where it will show up on PC Board. The "PCBMACRO.DAT" file is fully editable in case of your replacement preference. See details of how to alter this file in screen 2 of FCON Help, or read the "VHELP2.HLP" file. 55. Added KILL file, KILL directory function to the File Manager, FCON. 56. Added MKDIR directory function to the File Manager, FCON. 57. Added a mini terminal sub, to the File Manager, FCON. This way you can UPLOAD/DOWNLOAD ANSI files without ever having to leave the program. Uses X-MODEM CRC. 58. Experimenting with a new unregistered aggravation utility for the unregistered version of V-EDIT. 59. And finally, expanded help files, instead of "re-smooshing" them in order to make the help less vague. Groomed more redundency from the executable code. Improved speed. And all this for....Still only $ 22.00 See ya, Wizard.........
