Reader's Comments & Publisher's Replies ********************************************************* Comments entered by========> DARIEN ALLEN Calling from===============> Albany, NY BBS========================> Capital Connections (518) 377-9463 I've never seen an inter-active magazine like this before. Very interesting. This will be a great asset to us PC-NEWS hungry people like myself, depending on how soon you are on top of new developments in the industry. Dear Darien, Yes, this is the first of it's kind and with Sysops sending in the magazines log file I can address or rather be inter-active with the users of his or her board. I feel that this makes the magazine more useful and fun for the readers. I try to keep the staff looking into the PC/Modem World to be as you say "on top of new developments". I hope you and others will see to it that we meet or exceed this. I hope that you found the magazine interesting enough to keep reading us each month. I enjoy answering readers comments and hope to hear more from you. Are they serious with the pricing of the upgrade. It had better cook breakfast for me at that price. Carole Capuano The Butterfly BBS Dear Carole, According to our sources it true and I'll take Ham & Eggs with a side order of hashbrowns. This looks like a very nice magazine, and I wish you all the best success with it. With the scope of articles I have seen on this issue and the demo disk from ONE BBSCON, you should be able to expand your reader base quite nicely. I will be mailing you the registration information (you should have it by the time this message gets uploaded to you) and I will be happy to become a support board for you. Hi! Just me again... I forgot in my last message to tell you that I was most impressed that you had a writeup about the ONE BBSCON in this issue. That's good work! It has been a hot topic amoung my callers this week. Hmm.. another idea.. what about adding a file to the archive each issue that has a screen containing a short synopsis or indec of the main topics in the issue that Sysops could post as a welcome screen? It might help to increase readership. Well, it's just me back again.. I did notice one problem with this door that will cause you some lost callers. You must have ANSI.SYS or DVANSI.SYS loaded in the callers system to be able to run the door! Since I have specifically pointed out to many of my long distance callers not to use color in order to save transmission time, that means they can't enjoy the Magazine. If you have a fix for this problem, please let me know - or maybe I just have something set up wrong in the door.. Ralph Dear Ralph, Thank you for the nice commets, I guess you like the magazine right? Your idea of a topic screen is a good idea and will be used in our next addition. Thanks for suggesting it. The ANSI is here to stay along with RIP. I know that turns some people off and losses some readers but then we can't please everybody. Our alternative is to go hard copy and we are working on that. Again thanks for your commets. I like the reviews of BBSCon; also, the previews of the energy efficient PCs and all the rest! This is a superb effort. However, in the report on Trade Wars -- are the prices right? $200 for single user? $400 for multi-user? The Magazine doesn't respond properly when used by a RIP user. The program sends out a request for an ANSI driver; however, it isn't sent to the user. Instead the user sees only a few lines of garbage. What changes do a Wildcat! sysop have to make to allow users to read the magazine while using RIP? I've noticed that my users will get the postrip screen, but the magazine will not display for them in the text window. Dear Joy, Glad you like the October issue and thanks for letting us know. The Tradewars prices are correct according to our sources, can't say I like that one bit. The problem with RIP was noticed about two hours after we made the intital release, we immediately corrected it and re-released it sounds like you got the bad one. Please accept my apologies for the inconvience to you and your users. This issue should be working just fine, please let me know of any other problems as well. Thanks for your comments much appreciated. Michael Gray - Publisher **************************************************************
