Hello All ! ----------- A few months back I started this little project. Finally I've completed it. This game should run on any machine, however I've found it to be a bit too slow on anything lesser than a 386DX based machine. You'll need a minimum of EGA graphics (It'll run either EGA or VGA), although I don't think there are too many people who use EGA anymore. Memory requirements ? Who knows - it'll probably run as low as 384K. I ran it on a 512k machine with no problem. It should work on any Adlib compatible sound card, it even works on Pro Spectrum 16's. There is no joystick support. Sorry - I only do this programming bit in my spare time and reading a joystick through Quick Basic slows the whole works down too much. Notes About The Game -------------------- I tried to make this as close to the old arcade game (of similar name) as much as possible. Since my arcade version of this fried a few years ago, I don't remember the whole way the game worked. Sorry the ship doesn't move as fast (or smooth) as the original, Quick Basic is just too slow and my spagetti programming didn't help. Everything else (including the cool background music) is about as close as I could get it. This game is a bit on the hard side, and unlike the "Clones" I have seen, there are no safe hiding spots from enemy fire. However, with practice, you will find there are some good moves and places to manuever in that will help you score on to the harder levels. Of course, you might want to cheat and start the game with the command CASTLEPC XXX XXXX where XXX XXXX are the cheat words for 99 ships. Think you can find those words in this text ? Final Notes ----------- I have programmed this game in my spare time for fun and to attempt to improve my programming skills. There are no copyrights or other legal gobbledy gook attached. If you play it and like it, great - go for a high score. If you don't like it because you prefer some massive graphics and sound intensive game to stimulate your brain then delete it - more power to you.
