From: schung@cogsci.Berkeley.EDU (Stephen Chung) I have uploaded to kilroy.Jpl.Nasa.Gov a freeware Japanese word processor for Windows. This software has been through four pre-alpha releases and tested by many people on the net. It can be found under /pub/misc. I would appreciate any feedback, comments, bug reports, suggestions, etc. In particular, anybody who can give the software a good name will have the nice feeling of having achieved immortality... The software is contained in 5 zip files starting with 'jwp'. Please read the README.TXT file first before installing it. It is pretty large, (2 MB more or less) so please be considerate and download it only during off-hours (for the west coast!) The software is released under the terms of the GNU General Public Lisence (no flames please). Among its features are: - MDI interface - Iconbar - Dynamic kana->kanji conversion - User-defined kana->kanji conversions - Proportionally-spaced English - Full Cut and Paste - Export bitmaps - Search and Replace with regular expression support - Kanji information, including stroke count, bushu, On/Kun readings, meanings etc. - Lookup any kanji by stroke count or bushu - Enter any JIS character using JIS code or through table - Japanese-English dictionary - Dynamic glossary - User-defined hot-keys - File summaries - Find files - Open and save in standard Japanese formats - Printing, with headers/footers, page margins, etc. The file MANUAL.DOC is a Word for Windows 2.0 document containing the User's Manual. Those of you who doesn't have Word for Windows, I deeply appologize, but I have not been able to save it under Windows Write and still keep the bitmaps. Enjoy. Cheers Stephen
