System Recommendations ====================== - Windows 3.1, Windows for Workgroups, or Windows 95. - 486 with 8 Meg of RAM - VGA Graphics Mode (640x480x256 color) Introduction ============ Easy Money is a relational database with facilities for multiple accounts and multiple transactions for each account. Various searching and linking features are available to quickly analyze your records. While Easy Money was originally designed for small business use, it can easily handle your personal addresses and finances. Accounts ======== The main menu is the account menu. This is where the names, addresses, phone numbers, etc. are kept on your individual accounts. Accounts are added by clicking on the "Add" button and entering the desired information. Existing accounts can be edited or deleted by RIGHT clicking on the desired Account. Records ======= The records section of Easy Money is where transaction prices and descriptions are stored. The records section may be accessed by two different methods. The primary way of entering the records section is to LEFT click on an account to highlight it, then LEFT click the account again to access the records for that account. Click the "Add" button to add new records, or RIGHT click a record to edit or delete that record. The second way to enter the records section is to click the "Records" button at the main menu. This will take you to the records section for a listing of ALL records. You can edit or delete records here, but you cannot add new records in the ALL records listing. Analysis ======== Once you have accounts and records entered into Easy Money, you will most likely want to search through them in some manner. The simplest form of this would be to click the "Find" button at the main menu, and enter a search string. You may want to find all accounts in Washington, for instance. Note that you can expand on a previous search by clicking the "Widen" button, or you can reduce the results of a previous search by clicking the "Narrow" button. The procedure is identical whether you are searching through accounts or transaction records. However, if you are viewing records for an individual account, the search features will only find records matching the search FOR THAT ACCOUNT. Individual records may also be marked/unmarked manually, by clicking to the immediate left of each account/record. The "Select" buttons allow you to toggle between ALL accounts/records or just those that have been marked (either manually or with the FIND feature). Once you have located the accounts or records you were interested in, you can perform a link. For instance, you may click the "Find" button at the account menu and enter WASHINGTON to find all accounts in Washington. You may even do another find, and NARROW the search down to only those records in Seattle. Once that is done, you may click the "Records" button and then click the "Link" button in the Records section. This will locate all of the records for the selected accounts. Note that you can also search through the records first, and then go back to the accounts menu and link from there. This will find all of the accounts for the selected records. Printing ======== Once you have located the accounts or records you were interested in, you can print out the displayed accounts/records by clicking the "Print" button. Note that the print functions print all DISPLAYED records, not just those that are marked. Invoices ======== When you are viewing records for an individual account, there is a special button labeled "Invoice". Clicking this button will print out an invoice for the MARKED records for the selected account. Note that when new records are added, they are automatically set to marked status, easing the preparation of an invoice. When the "Invoice" button is clicked, a dialog box will appear so that you may enter any comments you wish on the invoice. These comments appear only on the invoice, and ARE NOT saved in the database. Appreciation ============ As always, I would like to thank my wife Peggy for her love, support and patience, and my Lord Jesus Christ for my salvation. About Easy Money ================ Easy Money was originally written by Anthony Watson on an Atari MegaSTE using GFA BASIC 3.5 as a replacement for an older database we wrote titled "Easy-Base". The Windows version of Easy Money was a complete rewrite using GFA BASIC for Windows version 4.36. The Easy Money manual was written in Pen Pal, a shareware text editor for the Atari ST from Mountain Software. History ======== Version 1.0 - First Release October 20, 1995
