About BC Computers... We are a group of engineers, math majors, and computer science people from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. This is who we are: Tom Burke - Owner / President / Founder Senior, Electrical Engineering (Computer Engineering Specialty) Start Master's school Summer semester 1996. Computer Science Minor Math Minor Credentials: VLSI design using Cadence software Computer systems design Familiar with Fortran, Pascal, C / C++, 80x86 assembly Familiar with NOVELL Netware 3.1x, 4.01x, & 4.1 Built many IBM clones Pete Muth - General good idea guy, really smart. Senior, Electrical Engineering (Computer Engineering Specialty) Math Minor Credentials: VLSI design using Cadence software Computer systems design Really good C / C++ programmer Charles Mees - Really smart... Good theory guy. BS, Electrical Engineering BS, Mechanical Engineering CS Minor Math Minor Credentials: Computer systems design Extensive knowledge of Fortran Familiar with C / C++, Pascal, 80x86 assembly Familiar with NOVELL Netware 3.1x, 4.01x, & 4.1 Naeem Ghani - Good ideas, really smart, efficient coder. BS, Electrical Engineering (Computer Engineering Specialty) CS Minor Math Minor Currently working on Masters in EE Credentials: Computer systems design SysOp of a SUN network (Intimately familiar with SunOS 4.1.2 & Solaris 2.4) Familiar with UNIX, in general. Familiar with C / C++ VLSI design using Cadence software VLSI design using Magic software Tim McKinney - Really smart guy, excellent coder BS, Electrical Engineering Currently working on Masters in EE Credentials: Familiar with UNIX, in general. Familiar with C / C++ Tim Martin - Really smart math-type guy. MS, Math Credentials: Experience in Electrical Engineering Experience with Pascal & C / C++ What we do... We are a custom computer-related design group. IBM CLONES: We can build a customized IBM Clone system. If it's available to the general market, we can build it for you at a reasonable (mostly) price. Whatever you want in hardware, we add 5% to that price, add S&H, & tax (Where applicable) and that is your cost. For instance, if what you want costs us $1000 for the hardware, we will charge you $1050 + S&H. If you are in Illinois, then add 7% sales tax, so it would cost $1125.50 + S&H. SOFTWARE: If you want a customized software package, we will write it for you. Software is licensed under a 25 year agreement with the licensee. If the software is to be part of a package that you are marketing, we will charge 5-10% of the overall profits from sales of the product (negotiable). If the software is to be a single / limited use item (for instance, only to be used at a small business location / home / etc) we will charge a reasonable per-hour fee for each member involved in the project. (say, $20 - 30 per hour, negotiable). We will occasionally publish software (Freeware / Shareware) mainly to let our name be known. (BCWP - BC Computers Text Editor is such a thing) ASICS: We can custom design digital ASIC's for your project. These Designs can be implemented in beta runs through MOSIS, for a varying amount of cash. 2.0um process, 2x2.5mm silicon wafer into a 40 pin DIP currently costs about $750 for 3 IC's. Again, this is due to the nature of a limited-run item. Combined efforts: We can do any combination of these things. For instance, if you would like a custom computer, with a specialized MPU to be built on ASIC's, and for us to write the OS, we'll do it. (but it'll cost ya). Anything that has to do with mathematical algorithms is sent through our resident math guy (Tim Martin) to ensure that our mathematical formulas are sound. How we work: We are currently all together at SIU-C. However, once we all graduate & go our separate ways, we will stay in touch via internet E-mail. This means little or no overhead for the business, so we can help keep prices down. We are all excited about this company, and are willing to start work on YOUR project, now. Depending on the project, we may ask for an advance (good faith money). Very little actually goes towards keeping BC Computers afloat. All profits from projects are split among those who actually worked on it. Funds are split by hours worked, and only, like 5% of profits are kept for BCC...
