*** CLMREAD.TXT *** Installation and release notes for ClipMate(TM) for Windows v3.12 Release Date (8/24/95) ******************************************************* * Notes To Users Already Running ClipMate: * * Don't install the new ClipMate while the old * * is running. Close it down. * * Your 2.0 data files will be converted to v3.0 * * format, which is NOT backward-compatible. (3.0 is * * the same as 3.1) * * You may install ClipMate into the same directory * * as the older version. * ******************************************************* *********************** Where To Download: ************************* Our WWW Site at http://delta.com/tsoft/clipmate.htm or See "Ordering, Downloading, and Contact Information" in the online help. *********************** Windows 95 ************************* This is not a 32-bit version of ClipMate, but it will run fine under Windows 95. We expect to ship a 32-bit version Q1 '96. See "Windows 95 Issues" on the online help. *********************** Installation Notes ************************* System Requirements: -------------------- Windows 3.1, Windows 95, or Windows NT. VGA or better display. Monchrome vga is ok. Mouse or other pointing device. To install ClipMate, just run the accompanying SETUP program from the Program Manager. (ex: FILE|RUN A: SETUP) The setup program does not require seperate install/target directories, meaning that if you've un-zipped the files into the directory that you want to run from, you can still run the setup to install the software - it will just skip the copy step. It is strongly recommended that ClipMate be placed in its own directory (i.e. C:\CLIPMATE). When the Setup program runs, it will create a ClipMate group with the ClipMate icon, and icons for documentation. If you decide to move the ClipMate icon to another group, such as the STARTUP group, you can delete the ClipMate group. NOTE: ClipMate doesn't alter ANY of your system files. It creates NO hidden files, puts NO DLLs or VBXs in your \windows\system directory, and is basically a CLEAN APPLICATION. ClipMate is EASY to get rid of, if you decide that it doesn't meet your needs. You are encouraged to place ClipMate in your Startup Group, and to assign a hot-key to it. The hot-key must be done through the Program Manager, but the group can be changed during installation. To assign a hot key (after installation), just click once on the icon, and select File|Properties from the Program Manager's File Menu. In the Hotkey field, press a key-combination, such as Ctrl+Alt+C. **************** End of Installation Notes ****************** *************************************** * Notice to Compuserve Users: * * On-Line registration is available. * * See HELP for details! * *************************************** Product Description: -------------------- ClipMate for Windows v3.12 - Clipboard Enhancement. Version 2.0 will work, if you make this change: To make ClipMate (and most other programs compiled with a Borland compiler) compatible with NDW v 2.0: make a change to the NDW.INI file, which is found in the Windows directory. In the [NHookSettings] section of NDW.INI, set Int21hHook=0. Like this: [NHookSettings] Int21hHook=0 There is sometimes a problem in conveting a clipmate data file from previous releases. If you run into a General Protection Fault when converting an old file, you will need to delete, or rename the file. If possible, send it to us, so that we can see what is causing the problem. Revision History: ----------------- 3.12 (08/24/95) - For new installations, the default file name was incorrectly determined. It should have been: "default.clm". Instead, it was "untitled.clm". - If you had a data file with a name other than "default.clm", ClipMate wouldn't find it. 3.11 (08/20/95) - Registration button on nag screen didn't call the right help topic. - Clarified AOL download instructions. 3.10 (08/17/95) - Fixed bug with WordPerfect 6.0 - it wasn't picking the correct filter. i.e. "WordPerfect Text (6.0)". - Fixed Windows 95 problem which caused the filter file (clipfltr.ini) to contain garbage. (Due to this fix, your old filter file will be deleted). - Fixed Filter problem that caused long format names to be truncated. (Really long names) - AutoSave - Optional file save every x minutes. - Fixed problem with Magnification Window, where the default display format was TEXT, even if the text was blank. (but PICTURE was present) - New auto-backup procedure. .bak file is generated each time data is saved, and can be recovered into main file. - Improved on-line Help - QuickStart. 3.09 - Released only in France 3.08 (01/01/95) - Fixed problem with date wrapping around end of year incorrectly, which caused the Shareware Registration Reminder (NAG) screen to incorrectly inform of a copyright violation. Sorry! - Fixed problem with moving multiple items to the safe list as one Multi-Select operation. 3.07 (11/27/94) Manual Window sizing, to accomodate Windows 95. See note above. 3.06 (11/21/94) All hard-coded text strings have been removed from executable, to facillitate translation into other languages. As a side benefit, this lowered the size of the executable by 22k, and size of ClipMate in memory by 7k. Stack space allocation was incorrect in 3.05, so 3.06 was created. v3.04 Not released as Shareware v3.03 (08/11/94) CLMICONS.DLL is now movable in memory, so it won't occupy memory below 1mb boundary. Executable is the same. v3.02 (07/27/94) Fixed problem with file not being saved, on brand-new installations. v3.01 (07/26/94) Major release - lots of new functionality. - Application Profile replaces Filters - Improved compatibility with WinWord 6, and WordPerfect 6. - Elimination of "Zero-Length Data" error. (ClipMate now accomodates apps that misbehave in this manner). - Improved compatibility with OLE2 apps. - Fancy Icon Title - shows current item. - Sticky Icon - Many small fixes and enhancements. - Easier registration abroad, and through resellers like Egghead. v2.09b (09/12/93) v2.0 (07/13/93) v1.15 (8/6/92) v1.14 (3/07/92) v1.01 (1/02/92)
