FASCAR VERSION 1.0

This game is written for (c) Microsoft Windows 3.1.  This program was written with (c) Microsoft's Visual Basic Standard Edition 3.0.  What this means to you is that you need to have the dynamic link library named VBRUN300.DLL installed in your Windows\System subdirectory to run it.  You can download this file from almost any local BBS or commercial online service (AOL, Prodigy, Compuserve, etc.).  You can also get it from many sites on the Internet.  Once you have this file in place, you can run any file created with Visual Basic 3.0.  If you cannot find a copy of VBRUN300.DLL, you can always get it from the Triad UNA-USA BBS listed at the bottom of this page.

Fascar also needs to be installed onto a hard drive (assumed drive C:).  You need approximately 410k of free space (not counting VBRUN300.DLL).  It runs too slow off of a floppy disk because it has over 100 car pictures that it continuously has to load.

My computer has this configuration:

1 floppy drive 	1 hard drive (C:)
Windows directory is C:\WINDOWS
Windows system directory is C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
600x480 Video Mode with Normal Fonts
(Also works with 800x600 with Large Fonts)
The game seems much faster when 16 colors are used instead of 256 or more, especially when loading the pits.

AUTO INSTALLATION:  Run the program INSTALL.EXE

MANUAL INSTALLATION:

Fascar can be installed into any subdirectory, but the car and pit pictures (*.BMP and *.ICO files) have to be stored in a subdirectory directly below the one that FASCAR.EXE is in and it MUST be named "PICTURES".  Example: (C:\GAMES\FASCAR\PICTURES).  Everything else goes in the same directory that FASCAR.EXE is in.
