Four Rivers is a game for 1 person played with mah-jong pieces. Mah-jong is played using 136 pieces, but Four Rivers requires 144 pieces. These pieces are played randomly on a board and they are removed 2 pieces at a time. A stage ends when all pieces are cleared. To remove pieces, following rules must be satisfied: 1. Both pieces must have the same design 2. Selected pieces are next to each other OR They may be connected by at most 3 straight lines on a cleared area. It is recommended that Four Rivers icon be placed in some group in the Program Manager. How to Play ***************************************************************** To Start the Game Choose the [Start] button. Pieces are placed on the board and timer is started. To Select a Piece to Clear Click the left mouse button on a piece to clear. It will turn blue. To deselect a piece, click the left mouse button on the same piece. To Clear Pieces After selecting a piece, select another piece with the same design. If they satisfy requirements, the first piece moves to the second piece and they are cleared from the board. Options such as time, undo, and advice may be set in the [File]- [Options] dialog box. Advice If there does not seem to be any pieces that can be cleared, choose the [Advice] button. Pieces that can still be cleared are displayed yellow. To remove these pieces, click the left mouse button. Number of times [Advice] button may be used are set in the [File]- [Options] dialog box. Undo Cleared pieces may be place back on the board by choosing the [Undo] button. Number of times[Undo] button may be used are set in the [File]-[Options] dialog box. [Sound/Flash] Effects during the games may be changed by [Sound] and [Flash] buttons. Choosing the [Sound] button plays WAV files while choosing the [Flash] button flashes the window to notify game status. Options ********************************************************************* To change game options, select [File] from the menu and select [Options] from the pull-down menu. An Options Setting dialog box is displayed. Change the options and choose the [OK] button. Choosing the [Cancel] button cancels settings that have just been modified. Total Stage Time The total time allowed to clear all the pieces from the board. Allowed setting is from 300 seconds (5 min.) to 3600 seconds (1 hr.) The default setting is 600 seconds (10 min.). Uncheck this option to disable total stage timer. Clear Piece Time Allowed time to clear 1 set of pieces from a board. Allowed setting is from 10 seconds to 99 seconds. The default setting is 60 seconds (1 min.). Uncheck this option to disable this timer. Number of Advices Allowed Number of times advice may be given. Allowed setting is from 0 to 99 times. The default setting is 5 times. Uncheck this option for unlimited number of advice. Number of Undo's Allowed Number of times pieces may be placed back on the board. Allowed setting is from 0 to 99 times. The default setting is 5 times. Uncheck this option for unlimited number of undo's. Show Same Pieces Change the color of pieces with the same design as a selected piece. Uncheck this option to not show pieces of the same design. Stop Timer when Minimized Stop timers when Four Rivers game window is minimized. Uncheck this option to continue timer count even when the Four Rivers window is minimized. Piece Speed Set the speed at which a piece moves to the first selected piece to be cleared. Select Layout This version of Four Rivers contains 5 piece layout.
