Household Register for Windows Installation Intructions

Household Register is compatible with both Windows 3.1 and Windows 95.
The install program will install the program to run from Windows 3.1
or Windows 95.


                     ****** WARNING *********
Do not install this program into the same directory as any previous
versions of Household Register for Windows.  If you do it will wipe
out your old data. To preserve your old data, install this program
into a different directory, then copy the file HOME.DBF from the old
version to the directory where the new version is located.  Also in
this version the item# field automatically increments.  To set the
the number to the correct value after copying your old data,
repeatedly click the add button until the correct value is reached.

WINDOWS 3.1 INSTALLATION and START-UP

1. Start Windows and the Program Manager

2. Choose File|RUN

3.Type A:\SETUP.EXE or B:\SETUP.EXE as applicable.

4. Answer Yes to the question "Install programs in Program Manager?"

NOTE: If you downloaded the program from a BBS, after unzipping the
program choose FILE|RUN and type the drive and path where the file is
located followed by SETUP.EXE. For example: C:\TEMP\SETUP.EXE and follow
the instructions.

To start the program, click the Household Register group, then double
click the Household Register icon.  To switch between full screen mode and a
dos window mode press the ALT + ENTER key.

WINDOWS 95 INSTALLATION and START-UP

1. From Windows 95 Click the Start button, point to Settings, then click
the Control Panel.

2. On the Control Panel, double click Add/Remove programs.

3. Follow the on screen instructions.

4. Answer Yes to the question: "Install programs in Program Manager?"

NOTE: If you downloaded the program from a BBS, after unzipping the
program start the Windows Explorer, navigate to the directory where
you unzipped the file and double click on SETUP.EXE. Follow the on
screen instructions and the program will be installed.

To start the program, click the start button, then Programs, then
Household Register then double click the Household Register icon.
Press the ALT + ENTER key to switch between full screen an dos window
mode for the program.


PROGRAM USE
===========
The program is partially filled in with many of the items you will find
in a typical household to aid you in completing your inventory.  All of
the program items have the serial number HRW-1234.  Any item that you
don't want in your inventory, just delete the item.  The other items that
you have in your inventory edit the item to provide the missing or changed
information.
