ZIP&GO IN WINDOWS ZIP&GO was intended for use in DOS, so instructions for WINDOWS were not included in the manual. Apparently, many users prefer WINDOWS, so what follows is the necessary information for using ZIP&GO in WINDOWS. If a .TGT or .BAT file must first be created in the directory, run ZIP&GO in DOS by entering ZG DIRNAME (the directory name), or open WINDOWS and follow these steps: 1. Open FILE MANAGER. 2 Change to drive C if you have more than one drive or partition. 3. From FILE select RUN. 4. Type the command line ZG DIRNAME = NONE, or ZG DIRNAME = WORD (the program runfile name). 5. Click on OK or hit ENTER. RUNNING FROM ZIPFILE Once a .BAT or .TGT file has been created, or if the directory and file name are the same, the program can be run from the zipfile by entering ZG DIRNAME from FILE MANAGER as outlined in the steps above; however, by creating a PROGRAM ITEM for each zipfile in a ZIP&GO program group, the zipfile can be run by double clicking on the appropriate icon. 1. Close any open groups in PROGRAM MANAGER. 2. Click on FILE, click on NEW, click on OK. 3. On the "Description" line, type ZIP&GO 4. Click on OK (this will create and open the new ZIP&GO program group). 5. Click on FILE, click on NEW, click on OK. 6. On the "Description" line, type DIRNAME (the name of the zipfile). 7. On the "Command line", type ZG DIRNAME. 8. For "Working directory", type C:\ZG. 9. Click on OK. Repeat steps 5-9 for each zipfile. To run the program, double click on its icon. The ZIP&GO menu will be display and operate in the usual way. Note: Directories with .TGT files will be unzipped, but you will then be returned to WINDOWS, since there is no "runfile". Any generic icon can be used, but an assortment of ZIP&GO icons has been included. To copy the icon files from the disk, at the DOS prompt enter: COPY A:\*.ICO C:\ZG (or B:\*.ICO C:\ZG, if B is the floppy drive). CHANGING AN ICON 1. Open WINDOWS. 2. Open the ZIP&GO program group. 3. Click on the zipfile icon to change. 4. Click on FILE. 5. Click on PROPERTIES. 6. Click on CHANGE ICON. 7. Type C:\ZG\ 8. Click on BROWSE. 9. Select an icon and click on OK. 10. Repeat steps 7 and 8 to view a different icon, or click on OK to use the icon. 11. Click on OK again. Len Klafta
