WAVmaker 1.0 - Evaluation Package WAVmaker is a complete Music & Digital Audio system featuring CD quality MID -> WAV rendering, tons of Digital Signal Processing functions (mix, maximize, fade, gate, compress/enhance, low/high/band/notch filter, ring modulation, vocoder, reverse, echo, reverb, flange, chorus, extend, cut/ gated cut) and MIDI analysis/manipulation. Several audio file format converters are also included. Creative Labs Sound Blasters are fully supported; other sound cards can easily be added to the customizable User Interface. All engines may be run from the User Interface or from DOS (including shell programs and BAT files). Full on-line, hypertextual documentation is included. WAVmaker is shareware. What you have received is the WAVmaker Evaluation Package, which comes with a subset of the full General MIDI patch/sample library delivered upon registration. An awesome sound data packer/ unpacker (included) allows sound file distribution on ordinary 3.5" HD disks. You won't believe your ears! The Evaluation Package may be distributed freely for evaluation purposes. Full distribution and registration information is in the on-line docs. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: 286+ (386+ recommended). FPU recommended. 4+ MB RAM (8+ MB RAM recommended). XMS (e.g. HIMEM.SYS). 5+ MB free hard disk space (10+ MB recommended). Disk cache (e.g. SMARTDRV.SYS) recommended. EGA+ (SVGA for nice title screen :-). Color monitor. MS compatible mouse (with driver). DOS 3.3+ (DOS 5.0+ recommended). High quality sound card (16 bits/44.1 kHz/stereo) strongly recommended. WAVmaker is a DOS program. It will not run reliably under Windows. If at all possible, use a good amplifier/speaker system (not pitiful PC gamer's speakers) to fully enjoy WAVmaker's CD quality output. INSTALLATION: Run INSTALL.EXE. Note: WAVmaker is packaged using Info-ZIP's compression utility. The installation program uses UnZip to decompress the distribution files. Info-ZIP's software (Zip, UnZip and related utilities) is free and can be obtained as source code or executables from many anonymous-FTP sites, including ftp.uu.net:/pub/archiving/zip/*. If DOS reports insufficient environment space at WAVmaker startup, you should increase the environment size reserved with the SHELL directive in CONFIG.SYS. See your DOS manual for details. Note that some shell programs do not use the COMSPEC variable in order to locate the command processor. Such programs will not be affected by the SHELL directive. If you are using such a program and are experiencing environment size problems, you'll have to shut it down before starting up WAVmaker. This will allow DOS to use the environment size specified in the SHELL directive. WARNING: Do NOT run the subprogram WM DFT2WAV with an unresolved environment size problem if you have a DPMI server installed on your system and/ or if you do not have a hardware FPU!
