June 18, 1988 This is the official SoftLogic DoubleDos 4.x patch to make the program work splendidly with MS/PCDOS 3.3, such as used on AT/compatibles and others upgrading to the 3.3 dos version. For those not used to working with DEBUG, or with directly altering important programs, I have embellished the SoftLogic text with (hopefully) interesting pointers. Other than that, the following is EXACTLY taken from the SoftLogic Solutions BBS board (reached at 1-603-644-5556, 1220 baud, 8-N-1), and works great. - - - - - - - - - - - - Msg # 628 Dated 04-27-87 07:07:40 From: SYSOP To: ALL Re: DOS 3.3 The following patch will make DoubleDOS 4.0 work with DOS 3.3. You should make sure DEBUG.COM is available either via your system path or in the directory containing DoubleDOS. (Enter the following from your DOS prompt:) debug doubled2.pgm (or) debug doubledo.pgm (DEBUG will be activated, and your screen will display the "-" (no quotes) DEBUG prompt.) (Once in DEBUG, it is absolutely vital to enter the following patch sequence EXACTLY how it appears below. Be sure to include the spaces and remember that you are entering the numeral "0", not the capital letter "O".) (Begin typing at the cursor position directly after the "-" prompt, and strike the RETURN or ENTER key at the end of each line you enter:) e 2130 20 e 878c c0 a1 e 8b7d 03 50 e 9487 7f ff b7 6e 20 80 c2 w q (The above code enters the changes required for DOS 3.3, and writes the "patch" back to the proper DoubleDos file for you. After you are done, just run DoubleDos 4.x as usual. Not hard at all, eh?) This patch disables DOS 3.2 support, so do not apply it to your original disk, but rather to an install or a backup. jack-sysop - - - - - - - - - - - - Hope you find the above useful!
