A number of users have reported that they are experiencing a number of "unrecoverable application errors" when Windows Express is installed as their shell. This problem occurs occasionally when exiting the last application and returning to the Express menu. This problem seems to be related to how Windows 3.0 interacts with a shell application. The default setting in Express "preferences" is for Windows Express to "maximize automatically." It appears that this maximizing action causes an unrecoverable application error occasionally on some systems. If you are experiencing this problem, change the Express preferences setting to never "maximize automatically." This avoids the Windows 3.0 interaction problem with Express.
