A Norton Guides Database for PCBoard v.14.5 v.2.0 - 7/11/90 Produced from HELP file descriptions written for PCBoard v.14.5 by Clark Development Co. and used with their permission. by Bill Larkin, Co Sysop The DEANS OFFICE BBS - (201) 279-7048 Hayes ULTRA 9600 modem & 500+mb on-line Introduction ------------ If you purchased the Norton Guides, or if you have a copy of NG_CLONE, and you use a BBS that runs PCBoard then this is for you! This is a database to be used with the Norton Guides that lists and cross- references all of the commands used by PCBoard version 14.5. Since the Norton Guides installs itself as a TSR, this database can be popped-up right over your favorite communications package, even while you are on-line. What You Should Have In This ZIP File ------------------------------------- Files contained in NG_PCB20.ZIP are: PCB145 NGO 2559 7-09-90 11:52p PCB145C NGO 2926 7-09-90 11:52p PCB145D NGO 1099 7-09-90 11:52p PCB145F NGO 15789 7-09-90 11:52p PCB145MI NGO 8385 7-09-90 11:52p PCB145MS NGO 26392 7-09-90 11:52p PCB145U NGO 6164 7-09-90 11:53p PCB NG 63893 7-09-90 11:53p README TXT 4092 7-10-90 22:27a To Install ---------- Just copy all of the files into your Norton Guides directory or your communications program directory. Then, when you run the Norton Guides, select the "Database" menu under the heading "Options". You should see an entry for "PCBoard v.14.5 Command Reference". Just highlight it and hit the Enter key. That's all there is to it. If you do not have the Norton Guides, there is a clone version (with a few less features) on many BBS's (including The DEANS OFFICE BBS) called NG_CLONE. This program reads Norton Guides databases and can be run as a stand-alone as well as a TSR. It is written by J.P. Pedersen. NORTON GUIDES for PCB v.14.5 Page 2 Notes ----- I can already see some of you saying to yourselves, "This thing is gonna be one big RAM hog!". Not to worry. The Norton Guides never uses more than 65k of RAM no matter how big the database. The descriptions used in this database came from the HELP files written for PCBoard v.14.5 by Clark Development Co. (for the most part), and are used here with their permission. The compilation and the cross-referencing were provided by yours truly. If you select the "Reference" item you will get a complete listing of all commands used by PCBoard. To the right of the listing you will see the individual category that conatins the full description of that command. The individual category listings (i.e., "Misc.") only list those commands that fit that particular category. I might be issuing an update , IF I get any good ideas from those of you who try this! Do I want any money? Are you waiting for the "beg screen"? Forget it. I do this for the fun of it and I wish more people did that. So, if you like this idea and find it useful, don't send me any money. Instead, call my BBS, The DEANS OFFICE at (201) 279-7048 and leave me E-mail with you comments, good OR bad. That will be my "payment". Then maybe I'll do an update. If Clark Development gets around to v.15 of PCBoard....then you will see an update for sure! The Usual Disclaimer -------------------- I am not responsible for any use by you of the files contained in this ZIP (compressed) file. If it does any damage to your machine, you really goofed! Don't blame me...and it's free anyway! Use it at your own risk.
