E! 5.15u [9-27-90] REGISTER.TXT page 1 Registration Information E! is a copyrighted program protected by both U.S., France and international copyright law. If you obtained E! from a shareware disk vendor, an on-line computer service or bulletin board, a friend or colleague, or another similar source, you have an unregistered (trial) copy. You are authorized to use this copy without charge for a limited period of time under the terms of the E! license agreement. After this time is up, you must register and pay for E! to continue using it. This method of distribution is known as shareware. It allows you to determine whether E! meets your needs before you pay for it. All prices below are given in US dollars. Please convert to your own currency or send the total amount in US dollars. This doesn't entitle you for any newer copy of E!. You'll just receive a registration code by mail enabling you to patch your current version of E! (this will make the registration screen disappear when loading E! and will register your copy of E!). You can also register for $100 and benefit from our upgrade plan, that is, receive every update of E! during one year. This entitles you for immediate fixing of technical problems you may have using E! (if they are related to E!) instead of waiting for a next release. License Agreement (1) Copyright: The E! program and all other programs and documentation distributed or shipped with it are Copyright Patrick Philippot, 1988, 1989, 1990, and are protected by U.S., France and international copyright law. In the rest of this document, this collection of programs is referred to simply as "E!". You are granted a license to use your copy of E! only under the terms and conditions specified in this license agreement. (2) Shareware Copies: Shareware copies of E! are distributed to allow you to try the program before you pay for it. They are Copyright 1989, 1990, Patrick Philippot and do not constitute "free" or "public domain" software. You may use a shareware copy of E! at no charge for a trial period of up to 21 days. If you wish to continue using E! after that period, you must purchase a registered copy. If you choose not to purchase a registered copy, you must stop using E!, though you may keep copies and pass them along to others. (3) Registered Copies: A SHAREWARE copy of E! becomes a REGISTERED copy once you have patched the main program using the E!PATCH program and the REGISTRATION CODE you obtained when registering. Your registered copy of E! may only be used on the number of computers for which you pay a registration fee. (4) Use of One Copy on Two Computers: If you have a registered copy of E! which is licensed for use on a single computer, you may install it on two computers used at two different locations (for example, at work and at home), provided there is no possibility that the two computers will be in use at the same time, and provided that you yourself have purchased E!, or if E! was purchased by your employer, that you have your employer's explicit permission to install E! on two systems as described in this paragraph. The right to install one registered copy of E! on two computers is extended to developers working with two machines : one main computer and one computer used as a debugging terminal. The right to install one copy of E! on two computers is limited to copies originally licensed for use on a single computer, and may not be used to expand the number of systems covered under a multi-system license. (5) Use of E! on Networks or Multiple Systems: You may install your registered copy of E! on a computer attached to a network, or remove it from one computer and install it on a different one, provided there is no possibility that your copy will be used by more users than it is licensed for. A "user" is defined as one keyboard which is connected to a computer on which E! is installed, regardless of whether or not the user of the keyboard is aware of the installation or use of E! in the system. (6) Making Copies: You may copy any version of E! for normal backup purposes, and you may give copies of the shareware version to other individuals, which they may also use and copy subject to E! 5.15u [9-27-90] REGISTER.TXT page 4 the terms of this agreement. If you copy the shareware version of E! for others, you must include all of the files distributed with it, including this one. You may not give copies of the registered version to any other person for any purpose without explicit written permission from the author. (7) Distribution Restrictions: You may NOT distribute E! other than through individual copies of the shareware version passed to friends and associates for their individual use. Specifically, you may not place E! or any part of the E! package in any user group or commercial library, or distribute it with any other product or as an incentive to purchase any other product, without express written permission from the author, and you may not distribute for a fee, or in any way sell copies of E! or any part of the E! package. Though, you may distribute any application using the E! API and/or compiled using the API.PAS, API.C or API.H source files. You may also freely distribute E! add-in applications you developed yourself. (8) Use of E!: E! is a powerful program. While the author has attempted to build in reasonable safeguards, if you do not use E! properly you may destroy files or cause other damage to your computer software and data. You assume full responsibility for the selection and use of E! to achieve your intended results. (8) LIMITED WARRANTY: The author warrant to owners of registered copies of E! that the software will operate in accordance with the description given in the documentation, and that the diskette will be free of physical defects which interfere with normal use.
