Overview: Some Sysops that run their BBS under DESQview/386 are plagued by the famous "Drive x Not Ready" error. We at Quarterdeck have been trying to figure out what causes this error for a long time. It turns out that there are actually TWO causes for the "Drive x Not Ready" errors. The first caused by a bug in some BIOSes and is fixable by the TSR FIX13.COM. Put this TSR in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. It should fix the first and most common "Drive x Not Ready" errors. We are currently unable to fix the second, and less common, cause of "Drive x Not Ready" error. This type of error can be worked around by loading the TSR RETRY13.COM. This TSR issues a 1 retry for every disk read that comes up as "Drive x Not Ready". Both of these TSRs should have been in the ZIP that this file is in.
