================ IMPORTANT!!!!!!! ================ Current version: 0.06 (Beta) Because there were several important bugs in 0.05, which might have interfered with the normal game play (Ie. the inability to write messages,) I rushed to get this version out... I WAS planning on including with this version the Intergalactic options (Multi-BBS net-type play!!!!!!!).. BUT, I didn't get a chance.... SO..... The next version (release in apx. 1-2 weeks from now, or around Oct. 21) *WILL* be totally redesigned (program-wise...). And will result in More speed, Less memory requirements and a TOTAL improvement.... PLUS.. It will also INCLUDE INTER-GALACTIC OPERATIONS!!!!!!! (For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, it basically lets different D*S games on different BBS's play against each other... for example, a whole network of BBS's could each play against each other... hehehe.... ) AND..... Embargoes - Sysop Utilites - New and IMPROVED configuration program - More covert operations.... All this in 1-2 weeks... (probably 1)!! ======== Version 0.06 ======== A note on HST speeds.... for some reason D*S doesn't want to work on some BBS's at speed high then 9600... why, I have no idea. BUT, I'm working on it and it should be fixed by the next version (1-2 weeks... maybe less.) Several bugs were fixed in this version, among them: - A bug which prevented the entering of messages to other players - A bug which prevented the players from increasing their effectiveness by paying a certain fee. - Another bug which ignored the "Daily number of turns" setting, and automatically put it to 7. In addition, I had several letters from people about suggestions and the following have been incorporated: (Thanks, guys!) - NEWS.* files changed to TNEWS.* files due to a problem with other programs files (also titled 'NEWS') getting overwritten - .TXT files changed to .ASC files - I have changed some of the programming, so D*S will run MUCH faster, and tear up yer HD MUCH less :-). ======== Previous updates (0.059 + 0.05) ======== Version 0.059: It contains the same updates as below (for 0.05), except for one addition: Due to a small mistake (oops!:-])I 'accidentally' screwed up on the section which reads in the baud rate, and cut off the last digits.. so, instead of, say, 38400 baud, it read it as 3840 baud. Anyways, that has been corrected. THIS SHOULD NOW WORK AT HST SPEEDS (& LOCKED BAUD RATES)!!. Reinitialize the game (Run DSCONFIG again...) -- Version 0.05 uses more information in the GAME.CFG files, and so won't work correctly with version 0.04 There were several bugs in version 0.04, among them: - Problems with ANSI in the players names, and resulting mess-up of the scoring tables, etc. - The DSMAINT would give a runtime error becuase of flaws in the lottery handling routines, causing the players not to recieve their new turns each day... DSMAINT also had similar runtime errors from other causes, these have been fixed also. - An error in the (numeric) input routine, that gave a runtime overflow error, among other things... this has been fixed (and improved on...) - It seems that a WHOLE routine was MISSING!!! The section that allows you to pay to raise your armies effeciency was gone. Hmmmmm...:-) (must be the Xxyborg) - Not really a bug, but D*S 0.04 was consuming too much memory. This version, 0.05, reduces requirements somewhat, and I'm just about ready with the next version, which will GREATLY reduce requirements, and also improve speed. - Various other, small, unnoticed bugs.... Sorry for these bugs, but, as you know, any new piece of software can have these problems, and I got my fair share of them... Again, sorry for the inconvenience... -- Jason Ewert.
