It is based on WWII stile of fighting, Using such weapons as Stukas, Spitfires, Panthers, Tigers, Shermans, and various different types of troops. The object is to take over 8 of the 16 zones. While only 8 players are allowed there are 8 computer controlled countries that will be very good opponents. production is handled in all towns. each town having a rating on how much it can handle per night(which in real time is just under a month). Setting Up the Game: To set up the game, first you must, at your DOS prompt type in : C:>FOA /C This will get you to the configuration menu shown below: 1. Sysops first name......... EDWARD 2. Option #1 : Sysops first name This is where you put your first name. Option #2 : Sysops last name This is where you put your last name. Option #3 : BBS Name This is where you put your Bulletin Boards name. Option #4 : BBS Software This is where you can put your current software in. This door supports such software as : 1. Scottbbs version 2.0 and above 2. Rbbs-pc version 15.1 and lower (uses messages file) 3. QuickBBS (uses dorinfo.def) 4. PC-Board 12 5. WWIV (uses chain.txt) 6. OPUS (not supported yet) 7. Rbbs-pc version 16.1 and above (uses dorinfo.def) 8. Phoenix BBS (uses info.bbs) 9. WildCat BBS version 1.13 and above (uses callinfo.bbs) Option #5 : Com Port This option allows you to select the com port you are currently using. Option #6 : Status Line This allows you to enable or disable the status line that appears at the bottom of the screen while the user is in the door. It contains The users full name, current node, program name, wither the filter is on or off, and the users time left. Option #7-10 : Color Selections These prompts are useless to this game due to that the game handles all colors. Option #11-13 : Control Switches These prompts enable and disable DSR, CTS, and XON-XOFF checking. Option #14-15 : Buffer Sizes These control the size, in number of bytes, that the buffer holds. Option #16-18 : Color Controls These prompts are again useless due to the same reason as #7-10. Option #19 : Local Monitor Type This allows the software to control graphics codes. IMPORTANT!!: If you(the sysop) has only a mono-graphics card your users will only be able to play in mono. it is important that this be set to YOUR type of display setup. Option #20 : Local Only Numeric Filter This option enables and disables the Local only filter. Although the user is not able to, in this game, actuate the filter on or off, you can turn it on or off while in the game by typing ALT-F at a prompt. This then replaces all numbers with *'s so that the user is confidant that the sysop can in no way cheat. After Completing this you will need to quit and save. by pressing a Q and then pressing CR. Before you can run this game you must create an Zones.Zon, and ZnPieces.Zon files. You can do this by typing in the following at your DOS prompt : C:> ZONEBLDR The Program will ask you questions in the format of: How many units of (Moutains do you want?[(A Default value)]> Desert Lakes Brush Marsh Impassible Moutains) From here you must enter a number from 0-255. The default value being most appropriate for normal play, But say you want to play a game in a harsh Deserty terrain. you would raise the desert and lower all other options. This enables you to play with the terrain configuration. It will also ask you a maximum X and Y units of each terrain type. This further allows configuration. This will then create these files giving you updates as you go. Now you are ready to play. To play type, in : C:> FOA /L ---- The /L for Local Mode To install run this game from a batch file so that your bbs can call it to allow remote users just put the following line in your batch file. FOA NOTE : RBBS USERS MUST PUT A (NODE NUMBER) AFTER THE FOA. IT WILL THEN LOOK FOR DORINFO(NODE NUMBER).DEF. Sysop Fast Logon: To log onto the game using the name in the config.dor record do: FOA /S This allow you to play without having to type in your name. Running Maint: To run the daily maint put FOA/M in your maint batch file. Reseting The Game: To Reset the game all you have to do is go to your FOA's directory and Delete *.ZON (All the data files). Then run the Zone Builder for a random creation of a map, or if you have made a map with the Zone Editor or want to use one you receive registration just copy over the Zones.Zon and ZnPieces.Zon from the disk you received and then you have no need to run the Zone Builder.
