M A Z E File [Maze40.Txt] Release: 4.00 January 1991 By: Fast Fingers BBS: The Tool Box In: Sterling Heights, Michigan Phone: 313-247-0094 Up: 24 hours/day @ 9600 baud Fido node: 1:120/181 ===== SYSOP'S INFO ===================================================== Release 4.0, 1/91, corrected/changed the following: 1. Redesigned game for 43x80 screen size. This doubled the size of each maze level. 2. Seven maze levels, dungeon, where designed in new format. 3. The three main menus were combined into a single menu and some commands were renamed to elimate naming conflicts in the first character of each commands name. 4. The help logic was completed restructured around its very own menu subsystem. 5. Support was added for sysop's that have modems and like to lock the baud rate between their computer and modem to maximize the throughput for the new modem products in the market place. 6. Logic was added to allow a maze level to contain a path internal to a room .. leads to some interesting potential maze designs. For an example see the level 1 maze included with this release. 7. The Black Knight logic was upgraded to allow variation in his speed during the attack .. he speeds up a little with each move. 8. The use of the Repaint command creates an ansi picture file called Maze.Pic which is exactly what the screen looked like at that point in time. Can be turned into a demo bulletion. 9. The Vendor logic was completely reworked to allow multiple buys and or sells in one usage of the menu. 10. A problem was fixed where new players that never moved were not being cloaked .. this resulted in several old players being in the same location and when one of them was attacked by a player and defeated a new opponent would show up in the same place, causing some confusion. 11. Letters can be written to the SYSOP and can be read in mazeutil or in the maze game when the sysop logs on with the same name as he/she has in the file opendoor.sys as the sysop's name. 12. The attack logic was completely rewritten to give the user more info on how its going. A death certificate is now generated when appropriate. 13. A lot of visuals were clean up for easier reading. 14. The window painter, the code that displays all those popup boxes was reworked to do its job in just one pass. The old code painted the box and then filled it in with text. 15. When private letters are sent you can now pick address from list of game players rather than typing in part of user's name. 16. A bug was fixed that would never allow a user to be killed in a counter attack by an off line user. As you can see this is a major rework of the game. I expect all future improvements will be to this EGA/VGA version of the game rather than the 80x25 screen version. Fast Fingers ...
