README file for Microsoft Excel Working Model SETUP information ----------------- Setting up the Working Model of Microsoft Excel is done via a batch file on the SETUP DISK called SETUP.BAT. SETUP.BAT will copy the required Microsoft Excel files to a directory called XLDEMO on your hard disk. By default, SETUP assumes your hard disk is drive C: and your floppy drive is drive A:. If your system is different than this, SETUP accepts up to 2 command line arguments. The first argument indicates your hard drive letter, the second indicates your floppy drive letter. For example, if your hard disk is drive C: and your floppy drive is drive B:, you would invoke setup by typing "B:SETUP C: B:" and pressing the ENTER key. Hardware Requirements --------------------- Microsoft Excel requires 640kb of conventional memory. In addition, you must have a full version of Microsoft Windows 2.03 or later to run this version of Microsoft Excel. Additional SETUP Note --------------------- The SETUP.BAT batch file is provided for convenience only. If you wish, you can manually copy all the files on the SETUP DISK to any directory on your hard disk. Once this is done you can start Microsoft Excel as you would start any Microsoft Windows application. Self-Running Demo ----------------- This version of Microsoft Excel comes with a Self-Running Demo in addition to the written Guided Tour. The Self-Running Demo shows you Microsoft Excel's powerful capabilities while you sit back and watch. The written Guided Tour is a "hands-on" tour of Microsoft Excel. - To start The Working Model of Microsoft Excel and use the written Guided Tour, type EXCEL at the DOS prompt while in the \XLDEMO directory and press ENTER. See the "Guided Tour" for additional instructions. - To start The Working Model of Microsoft Excel and see the Self-Running Demo, type EXCEL AUTODEMO.XLM at the DOS prompt while in the \XLDEMO directory and press ENTER.
