Use the "Terminal emulation" option in Intel's TESTCOM program to send the command AT\J1\N0\Q0\V0&Wto the modem. Before using Smartcom II v3.0 with the SatisFAXtion or Connection CoProcessor (CCP) modem, you must remove the fax program from memory. If you don't, your system will lockup when you load Smartcom. For SatisFAXtion, enter CASMGR /U. For CCP, enter XCAM. Special notes about Smartcom II Version 3.0: þ Version 3.0A is compatible with all Intel modems. þ Version 3.0B is unknown. þ Version 3.0C is incompatible because it checks for a Hayes ROM in the modem. If the modem ROM's checksum doesn't exactly match Hayes, the program doesn't work with that modem. SMARTCOM III This program is compatible with all Intel modems. Smartcom III is designed for use with Hayes modems and any deviation can cause problems. So before using Smartcom III with any Intel MNP modem (SatisFAXtion and 9600EX included), you must configure them identically to the Hayes.
