Ken Deen's THE AGGRESSIVE TRADER BUY ALERT 1339 Virginia Rd. Vol. 1, No. 39 Montecito, CA 93108 April 15, 1992 (805) 565-2039 12:32pm EDT CompuServe: 72020,2050 Stock+Options Account: * BUY 8 Microsoft July 135 calls (symbol: MSQGG). I bought today at 8. Model Portfolio: No trades Discussion: Microsoft Corp. Microsoft, in my opinion, is to the Nasdaq what IBM once was to the NYSE; namely, THE premier high-tech growth company and market bellwether. Earnings growth has been extremely strong and extremely consistent -- in the 50% to 70% range -- for several years now. Here is why I think today is a great buying opportunity: * I believe the Nasdaq is headed higher over the next one to five months. I expect to see growth stocks in general recovering from the recent slump. When the Nasdaq heads higher, Microsoft usually leads the way. * Today there is very good news on Microsoft: The courts have thrown out Apple's patent infringement lawsuit against Microsoft. This lawsuit has had a dampening effect on Microsoft's stock, since an unfavorable ruling could have forced Microsoft to withdraw its mega-hit Windows software from the market. The removal of this element of uncertainty should be enough to spark a good rally. * Microsoft is expected to release earnings tomorrow. In my opinion, a positive surprise is more likely than a negative surprise. * Microsoft has been bouncing around in a trading range of 113 to 133 all year. Based on early market reaction to the news story cited above (Microsoft is up 12 points to 129 as I write this), I expect a breakout to the upside within days. -END-
