Information on Sending Postfiles to a Postscript Printer

    The Postfile command (*PF filename*) on PAGE 5-86 allows a user
to insert a postscript program file directly into a document.  This
flexibility provides more powerful control of the printer at
print-time.


         FILE NAME:     BIN1.PS and BIN2.PS


    DESCRIPTION:  These Q&A PostScript postfiles will allow the NEC
LC-890 or a similar dual bin Postscript printer to address the
different bins in the printer.

    The document BIN1.PS will feed from bin 1.

    The document BIN2.PS will feed from bin 2.


    To use the postfile in the Write module of Q&A you must put a postfile 
command in the first line of the header of your document.  The postfiles 
(BIN1.PS and BIN2.PS) need to be in the subdirectory that is set for document 
files in your Set Global Defaults from the Main Menu Utilities Menu.


    For this particular postfile, here's the syntax:


              *postfile bin1.ps *

                      or

              *postfile bin2.ps *



         FILE NAME:     MANUAL.PS


    DESCRIPTION: The file MANUAL.PS will place the printer into a
manual feed mode.  In this mode you can feed pages manually.  This
function is needed for envelope printing on many Postscript printers.


    For this particular postfile, here's the syntax:


              *postfile manual.ps *


    The files BIN1.PS, BIN2.PS and MANUAL.PS contain standard
Postscript code.  These files are provided as a convenience to the
users of Q&A but because Postscript is NOT a product of SYMANTEC, we
cannot provide assistance in creating Postscript programs.
