Norton Desktop for Windows version 1.0 The Norton Desktop for Windows 1.0 is compatible with Microsoft Windows version 3.1 with the following three limitations: 1. When using the Norton Desktop Tool Control Menu to change an icon's label, you may need to click on the icon twice to activate the control menu. This feature works correctly in Norton Desktop for Windows version 2.0. 2. Norton Desktop "spin buttons", these are buttons that contain up and down arrows on the same button, will not work. This feature works correctly in Norton Desktop for Windows version 2.0. 3. If you are using the Norton Backup for Windows, you need to ensure that the built-in Windows 3.1 virtual DMA driver, VDMAD, is installed. Simply edit the Windows SYSTEM.INI file and, in the 386 Enhanced section [386Enh], add the line device=*vdmad and remove the line device=vdmadx.386 and save the changes. You must restart Windows for the changes to your SYSTEM.INI file to take effect. If the correct device driver is not in place, the Norton Backup will run correctly, but not at the fastest possible speed. Norton Application Note Rev. 6/92 #4102 Page 1 of 1
