Printing Envelopes in JustWrite While there is no "envelope" feature in JustWrite, it is easy to create an envelope template which you can use to print envelopes on a one-at-a-time basis, or in a mail merge situation. The following page settings are for an HP Laserjet IIP, and will not work for all printer types. You will need to calculate the correct page settings for your individual printer. Also, these page settings are for a standard Com 10 envelope size. On the File Menu, select Printer Setup to change the orientation of the printer to landscape. Go to the Format Menu, choose Document (or simply press ctrl-F9) and make the margins: Left: 6" Right: 2.5" Top: 2" Bot: 4.5" This will position your cursor at exactly the correct spot for typing the address for the envelope. With a dot matrix printer, it should be fairly easy to determine the correct margins. Practice on a piece of paper until the margins are correct. Keep in mind that if you are manually feeding an envelope through, your top margin will be less than if you are using continuous-fed envelopes. With a laser printer, make sure you first set the orientation of the paper to landscape. If the suggested margins don't work, print the document onto a regular sheet of paper. Place the envelope behind the printed page, with the top right corner of the envelope aligned to the top right corner of the page (see diagram). You should then be able to measure how far down and over your address needs to go (measuring from the edge of the paper, not the envelope). JustWrite Application Note Rev. 6/92 #5104 Page 1 of 1
