INTEL SHOWS NEW LINE OF FAX MODEMS Intel wants to put more than a chip inside your PC. The company has unveiled a new line of low cost internal fax modems and fax software for both DOS and Windows. With prices starting as low as $129, the Group 3 compatible SatisFAXtion modem line consists of three internal units. The SatisFAXtion Modem/100 provides a fax sending rate of 9,600 bps, a fax receiving rate of 4,800 bps, and a modem speed of 2,400 bps. The SatisFAXtion Modem/200 provides a fax transmission rate of 9,600 pbs, a modem speed of 2.400 bps, V.42 data compression for a maximum data throughput rate of 9,600 bps, and V.42 error correction. The SatisFAXtion Modem/400 features a coprocessed architecture for high speed buffering that prevents data loss, V.42 error correction, and full duplex (V.32bis) data and fax transmission rates up to 14.400 bps. The modem/400 is V.42bis compatible, providing a maximum throughput rate of up to 57,600 bps. They also have new software that supports the above faxes. Windows software is also available.
