Rough Draft: Copyright 1992, Edward Dluzen April 21, 1992 From: Edward Dluzen Network Administrator Thank you for expressing interest in carrying AmiNet, the AMIGA SPECIFIC Network. Currently we are only a small band of BBS's that are looking for more Nodes and HUBS. AmiNet was launched on April 13, 1992 by me with the help of Lyle Giese. The National Hub of operations is NezulD's DomaiN BBS, located, centrally, in Northbrook, IL (Suburb of Chicago.) The phone numbers are 1-708-559-0513 and 1-708-559-0514, They support 300-19200 HST connections. There are 4 Lines currently and will ring to any open modem. The voice number for this BBS is 1-708-559-0084, there is an answering machine ready to take your message if no one is available when you call. If you decide to log on to the system, leave a Comment to the SYSOP of your intentions along with your voice and data numbers, providing you did not leave them during your registration. Also please state which conferences you wish to carry and echo. The purpose of this network is to bring information and better understanding of the Amiga Computer. I hope that it will serve as a platform to give and receive advice and comments on current software/hardware/and programming. How does it work: Currently we are offering QWK mail support and PCRelay mail support. Not all HUBS will be carrying all mail supports. If you have any problems connecting to the network, we will try to be of some assistance, but the ultimate responsibility is on your shoulders to get your setup working, we cannot know EVERYTHING. **************************************************************************** Main Contact Points HUB Support for PCRelay mail transfers and .QWK transfers is provided by NezulD's DomaiN in Northbrook, IL. You can call 1-708-559-0513/4. The sysop is Edward Dluzen. HUB Support for PCRelay mail transfers and .QWK transfers is provide by Bell Micro Systems in Chicago, IL. You can call 1-312-727-8809. The sysop is Lyle Giese. *************************************************************************** Currently with only 4 conferences we expect to expand. However, with any new network, I do not want to carry useless conferences. When a conference becomes sufficently busy, or starts to take on a strong theme, we will assign a new conference to it or rename that conference. I will entertain any suggestions in the Administration Conference. Thank you for your support and if you have any questions feel free to either call the BBS or to call voice, as given above. I will return your call, but I keep strange hours so I suggest that you call the BBS first. ************************************************************************** RULES: 1) The rules are simple, since the Amiga is a family computer I expect no foul language. 2) Conferences stay on topic - there are no moderators (yet?) but I would appreciate that each sysop contains their own group, and I have a bunch of wild ones . 3) The messages here are the property of AmiNet and are not to be re- broadcast or sent out on any other net without the express written consent of NezulD's DomaiN (Edward Dluzen.) *************************** CONFERENCE LISTING *************************** Name Assigned : ADMIN (PCRelay #2) Stated Purpose: This conference is a PRIVATE and REQUIRED conference for all Nodes/Hubs that carry All Amiga Network Echos. All Network business between Network Sysops and Admin will be carried out HERE. It should go without saying that it is REQUIRED that you not only carry it, but you also READ it. Name Assigned : HARDWARE PCRelay : 12 Stated Purpose: This conference is for questions and answers on Amiga Hardware, both existing and projected Name Assigned : PGMING PCRelay : 19 Stated Purpose: This conference is for programming discussions pertaining the Amiga Personal Computer. Any language will be supported include Basic, C, Assembly, Pascal, etc. As soon as time permits I will be holding a small Assembly langage class in this conference, unless there are to many messages/reply's toward which I will make a seperate conference. Name Assigned : GAMES PCRelay : 27 Stated Purpose: This conference is for the discussion of Amiga games, they are not limited to Amiga Specific, but there should be some tie into the Amiga, such as "comming soon." Hints and tips are also encouraged. ****************************************************************************** HUB's Currently Sourcing AMINET ****************************************************************************** Name HubID Phone Number Sysop ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ NezulD's DomaiN HUBNZLD 708-559-0513 HST Edward Dluzen Bell Micro Computer HUBBMC 312-727-8809 v.32/HST Lyle Giese ****************************************************************************** Nodes Currently Carrying AMINET ****************************************************************************** Name NodeID Phone Number Sysop ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ NezulD's DomaiN NEZULD 708-559-0513 HST Edward Dluzen BMC West BMCW 815-337-0191 Lyle Giese Bell Micro Computer BMCBBS 312-727-8809 v.32/HST Lyle Giese ****************************************************************************** PCRELAY Tranfers can be accompished here at NezulD's Domain by the following: If you already have PCRELAY software set up, you should make another sub- directory, for example- c:\aminet copy your existing PCRELAY software to this subdirectory, overwrite your net.id file with the one that I provided and also the conflst.rly file also available in this packet. Next you run Config and set up your information (we use zip) and your work directories, and the conferences you wish to take, just like you did with RIME. Now you call my BBS and log in. Leave me a note that you wish to participate in AMINET, I will give you clearance to use door 14. Once you have clearance, you place a message in each of the conferences that you intend to echo, then run export. Call my BBS and enter door 14, there are multiple nodes so you will probably be able to get in most times, at least for now. Upload your *.rly file, and you will first get back an empty file. This process will now have you auto-registered in the hub door, from then on any mail that you tranfer will be processed just like any other net. And you are then a member of AMINET! ***************************************************************************** .QWK transfers You can receive .QWK packets from my mail door (MarkMail) You would need to also run a program that would import those packeted messages into your BBS system. On a PC it would be something like RNET. Primarily it would work a lot like an offline mail reader. You compile and compress your messages, upload them and download and insert your new net messages.
