The AE-2 intelligent network interface card configures itself--it recognizes and adapts to how much memory is on board, and whether it is inserted in an 8- or 16-bit slot. The AE-2 adapter finds its own optimum settings so you don't have to bother. Suitable for use with any Ethernet system including the Artisoft LANtastic Network Operating System, the AE-2 adapter is as easy to install and set up as the LANtastic system itself. The adapter is compatible with Novell NE2000 cards but offers more features such as providing additional IRQ (interrupt request) lines so it won't conflict with other expansion equipment. Included with the adapter is its software driver containing the Artisoft NetBIOS standard and a user's manual written in plain English. As your network grows, the most efficient use of office resources comes through the peer-to-peer LANtastic Network Operating System. It makes file and equipment sharing easy by enabling any workstation on the network to also be a server. In a diskless workstation, the AE-2 adapter allows you to boot your computer across the network with Artisoft's programmable PEROM chips. And in an office where portables need to connect to the network and sudden expansion needs are common, the Central Station connectivity platform is an open port to an Ethernet system.
