Technical notes =============== - List Of The Files On The Disk DOS Utilities ============= Logitech DOS Mouse Driver, Release 6.10 --------------------------------------- Mouse support for standard VESA super VGA mode has been added for this release. The modes supported are modes 100(hex) through 10C(hex), and mode 6A(hex). The appropriate files will be automatically installed if the mouse installation program detects a VESA BIOS extension, release 1.00 or higher, or a VGA adapter. Starting from the 6.10 release, the DOS driver is made up of the three following files: 1) MOUSE.COM : mouse driver 2) LMOUSE.INI : mouse driver configuration file 3) LVESA.OVL : video module for the DOS driver These files must be in the same directory. However, the configuration file and the video module are not required -- if any one (or both) is missing, MOUSE.COM will still load, but super VGA video modes will not be available. As for MOUSE.SYS, VESA super VGA modes are not supported at this time, and LMOUSE.INI and LVESA.OVL are not required. The configuration file is automatically created by the installation program for your specific hardware configuration. We recommend that you do NOT modify it. In case you change your video adapter, we suggest that you reinstall the mouse software to update the configuration file. How To Upgrade Your MouseWare DOS Files --------------------------------------- If you are upgrading from a previous version of MouseWare, we recommend that you install your MouseWare in the same directory as your previous version. The INSTALL program replaces the old software in the MOUSE directory with the new versions, and then asks for your permission before it replaces any menu definition files already in your MOUSE directory. How To Install Your Mouse For The GEM Environment ------------------------------------------------- When installing GEM, if there is no selection for the Logitech Mouse, choose the selection for "MOUSE.COM". How To Install Your Mouse For AutoCAD 10 And Above -------------------------------------------------- When installing AutoCAD, choose the Microsoft serial or Bus mouse selection. This selection will use the mouse driver in memory. How To Install Your Mouse For DOS 4.0 Shell Program --------------------------------------------------- IBM DOS 4.0x installation places a new AUTOEXEC.BAT file in the root directory and a DOSSHELL.BAT file in the DOS files directory. In order to use a Logitech Mouse (any type) with the mouse driver in memory, you must modify both the AUTOEXEC.BAT and DOSSHELL.BAT files. 1) With a text editor, open the DOSSHELL.BAT file and find this statement: "@SHELLC /MOS:[driver].MOS/TRAN/COLOR/ etc...." (where [driver] can be PCIBMDRV, PCMSDRV, or PCMSPDRV) 2) Delete "/MOS:[driver].MOS" from the "@SHELLC" statement. Leave the rest of the statement. The modified statement should now look like this: "@SHELLC /TRAN/COLOR/ etc...." 3) Modify your AUTOEXEC.BAT file: Include the C:\MOUSE sub-directory in the PATH statement. Load MOUSE, and if needed, LOGIMENU and CLICK before you execute DOSSHELL. This lets you use your Logitech Mouse both inside and outside the Shell for DOS 4.0x. How To Install Your Mouse For DOS 5.0 Shell Program. ---------------------------------------------------- The DOS mouse driver should be launched prior to the DOS 5.0 DOS Shell and not launched within a DOS box. Also Windows 3.x should not be launched from a DOS 5.0 DOS Shell DOS box. This may result in loss of mouse functionality under Windows 3.x. Olivetti Monochrome Adapters. ---------------------------- Support for special video modes has been removed from the DOS mouse driver. Programs that use these modes will need to be reconfigured to work with a standard adapter. Your program documentation should contain the information you'll need. Loading High Command. --------------------- In case you have problems trying to load high the mouse driver, you can load the driver without the overlay with the following command: For DOS 5.x: LOADHIGH MOUSE NOVCI ClickEd ------- ClickEd - The control panel hot key mask cannot be changed while running in a multitasking environment. Windows Utilities ================= The Logitech Windows Control Panel ---------------------------------- The Logitech Mouse Control Panel for Windows has been enhanced as follows: - A "left button double click" function can be assigned to the middle or right mouse button. - With at least one button assigned, it is possible to call up the Mouse Control Panel from the "LogiButtons" icon. To do so, click on the "LogiButtons" icon, and select "LogiPanel...". - If your version of Windows and your Display Driver support Mouse Trails this cursor enhancement feature may be enabled by selecting the "Mouse Trails" check box in the Logitech Mouse Control Panel. Also, the Logitech Windows mouse driver has been modified to accept an orientation different than NORTH, only when a Logitech Trackman Portable device is detected. Windows Running In 386 Enhanced Mode ------------------------------------ There are two limitations when running Windows in 386 enhanced mode: 1) You cannot use the DOS mouse driver in "DUAL" mode. 2) If you use the MouseMan Cordless Mouse on a mouse port (sometimes called a PS/2 or PIX port), the Logitech Mouse Control Panel "About" box only shows static information from the start of your Windows session. Thus, if you change the channel in the current Windows session, information in the "About" box will not change until the next session. You should also be aware that Logitech's drivers use the Cordless Mouse on a serial port at 9600 baud. If you encounter problems using the cordless mouse on a serial port under Windows in 386 enhanced mode, load the driver at 1200 baud: - Under DOS, load the driver with the '1200' option (e.g mouse 1200). - Under Windows, use NotePad to edit your SYSTEM.INI file. Under the [LogiMouse] section, add the following statement: baudrate=1200 Installation With The Norton Desktop Shell ------------------------------------------ If you run the WInstall program and the Program Group box is dimmed, cancel the installation. From the Norton Desktop window, choose Preferencies from the Configure menu. Enable the Quick Access on Startup option. After you click OK, choose Save Configuration from the configure menu. You can now restart the installation. In Windows 3.0, you will access the Mouse Control Panel by opening the group in which you installed it and by double clicking on its icon to open it. For Windows 3.1 and above, the Logitech Mouse Control Panel is accessed through the Windows Control Panel found in the Main group. Windows Files Update -------------------- At the end of the installation, the Windows System.Ini and Setup.Inf files are updated to reflect your new installed software. The original version of these files are respectively saved to System.Old and Setup.Old. Bus Mouse Conflict ------------------ If you have a Bus Mouse with its jumper set on IRQ 2, you may experience compatibility problems when starting Windows. The problem can be solved by changing the IRQ selection jumper on your Bus board to another interrupt not in use. Installation Conflict --------------------- Depending on your configuration, you may experience problems when Windows tries to restart after the installation. In this case, you should restart your system. This is only an installation problem and should not affect the normal use of the mouse software. MousePort (PIX) Compatibility ----------------------------- In case you experience compatibility problems with your mouse attached to the MousePort (PIX), you should connect it to the computer through the serial port.
