TITLE: Security/Fdisk/Installation DOCUMENT ID#: FYI-M-1108 DATE: 30July92 PRODUCT: DR DOS PRODUCT VERSION: 6.0 SUPERSEDES: SYMPTOM: Unable to install on primary partition because primary partition is too small. ISSUE/PROBLEM If the primary partition is less than 2.5 MB DR DOS will not install. If Security is enabled during installation, Fdisk can not correct this situation because of the secure disk and installation will not complete, but security will be installed. SOLUTION Boot from the initial installation floppies. Press F10 to abort and exit to DOS. From the A: Prompt, Make drive C: bootable by: SYS C:\. Copy the following files to drive C: LOGIN.EXE CONFIG.SYS AUTOEXEC.BAT SSTORDRV.SYS DEVSWAP.COM INSTALL.EXE FDISK.COM Rename C:\INSTALL.EXE to C:\SETUP.EXE. Remove the floppy from drive A: and reboot the computer. Enter the Master password. At the C: prompt, type SETUP. Selecte only the SECURITY option. Enable SECURITY and enter a different password for the MASTER PASSWORD and the USER PASSWORD. Complete the installation and exit to DOS. Run SETUP again. This time, disable SECURITY, complete the installation and exit to DOS. Now type FDISK and remove all partitions on the hard drive. Create a primary partition of at least 3MB in size (recommend 10MB). Reboot off intial installation floppies and complete install.
