T34 This contains two files from the Skunk Works; T34C.TXT (the one you are reading) T34C.SIM (aero model for the Beech T-34C) Aero model for the Beech T-34C This aero model was created for a research project working with Navy T-34C pilots. We used the Cherokee model, modified the characteristics a little, and came up with an acceptable T-34 aero model. A number of T-34 instructors flew it, and indicated that the performance was within about 5 knots of the actual aircraft. Speeds are: rotate at 80, climb at 120, cruise full throttle at 165, descend at 120, fly final at 100, over the fence at 90. Takeoffs are made with no flaps, and flaps are used for landing, If you select full flaps, it balloons a little, so you could reduce the flap lift coefficient a bit. I discovered an interesting thing while doing trial and error aero modeling. With 999 horsepower, the top speed is about 165; with 1000 horsepower, top speed is over 200, probably around 240. It seems that 1000 HP is a 'break' point in the FS calculations. Please feel free to improve on this aero model, if there are any real-life T-34C pilots out there let us know what you think. This aero model should go pretty well with an AAF-created T-34C visual model. Maybe we'll see one soon.
