ARTISOFT ANNOUNCES NEW AE-1/T ETHERNET ADAPTER Provides Low-Cost, 10Base-T
Ethernet Solution

   TUCSON, Ariz.-- Artisoft announced today its new AE- 1/T(tm) 10Base-T
Ethernet adapter which supports the use of unshielded twisted-pair Ethernet
cabling.  Designed to provide a low-cost Ethernet solution in compliance with
the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet standard, the AE-1/T is scheduled to ship in
September 1991 at a price of $199.

  "Its features, flexibility, and low price should make the AE-1/T one of the
best 10Base-T values around," said Dave Hallmen, Artisoft's Vice President of
Sales and Marketing.

  The AE-1/T is an eight-bit, ISA bus network adapter for use with IBM
PC/XT/AT/386/486 computers and compatibles.  It can be connected to any
standard 10Base-T hub with unshielded twisted-pair cabling by its external
RJ45 connector and has a link-integrity LED to show if proper connection to
the hub has been made.  The AE-1/T also has a special internal connector for
linking internally to Artisoft's new 10Base-T Peer-Hub.

  The AE-1/T offers a 10Mbps data transfer rate, supports 8K of on-board RAM,
and is software compatible with Novell's NE1000 adapter.  However, it differs
from the NE1000 in that it does not have DMA channels and it supports
additional IRQs of 6,7,10, and 15 which the NE1000 adapter does not support.
These additional IRQs can be used by AT class machines and above, leaving
more free IRQs for other hardware devices.
