PAYOFF(tm) Version 2.0 SHAREWARE COPY INTRODUCTION ------------ The information in this file will help you install PAYOFF on your hard drive and run (execute) the program. You should also read the file INFO.TXT for additional information about PAYOFF and for ordering information if you want an unrestricted copy. PAYOFF's Help File is called PAY2HELP.$$$. This ASCII file may be typed or printed if you want to read it without executing the pro- gram. Thank you for your interest in this program. GETTING STARTED --------------- Copy all files from the distribution diskette onto your PC's hard disk drive. You may wish to create a directory called "PAYOFF" for this purpose. The following command line will create the subdirectory: MD C:\PAYOFF [Enter] To copy the diskette files, use the command line: COPY A:\*.* C:\PAYOFF\*.* [Enter] If you're using the B floppy drive, replace "A" with "B". And if you're using a hard drive other than "C" ("D", for example), make the appropriate substitution. To run PAYOFF, type PAYOFF or PAYOFF2 [Enter]. To clear PAYOFF's opening screen, press any key. If no key is pressed, the screen clears automatically after 30 seconds. PAYOFF starts with the basic data from the last loan file you saved (without any special payments). If that file has been moved, renamed, or deleted, PAYOFF starts with a set of default values. ABOUT PAYOFF ------------ PAYOFF is a powerful financial planning and analysis program for IBM PC or PC-compatible DOS computers. It is designed for individuals, business women and men, accountants, financial advisors and planners, attorneys, realtors, bankers, loan and mortgage originators - in short, anyone who needs to know: - the cost of borrowed money - options available for setting up loans - the details of how borrowed money is repaid, including summary financial information. PAYOFF computes detailed payback (amortization) schedules for any direct reduction loan. PAYOFF's operation is user-friendly and context- evident. It provides the highest level of computational power and flexibility by combining features not available in any other single program. PAYOFF's unique skip payment loan (SPL) capability, for example, is described in "Skipped-Payment Loans" in the September 1992 issue of INC Magazine. SPLs, which are especially useful for businesses and individuals who want to level cash flow by offsetting income fluctuations, are easily and quickly analyzed with PAYOFF. In addition to simple loans, PAYOFF computes amortization tables for ANY combination of variable interest rates, contract and/or random skip payments (with or without payment of interest only), accelerated payments (additional amounts credited toward principal), and balloon payments. PAYOFF's printed output is a detailed, payment-by-payment tabulation of your loan. It includes all user-supplied input data in a convenient, easy-to-read format and summary amortization statistics.
