the following is a release by the united states geological survey, national earthquake information center: a moderate earthquake occurred in western arizona about 30 miles ( 50 km.) south of grand canyon village at 2:21 am MDT today, apr 29, 1993 (1:21 am mst in arizona). the magnitude was computed at 5.5 on the richter scale. this earthquake was felt at flagstaff, arizona and in the st. george-kanab-lake powell area of utah. this earthquake is in the same area as the magnitude 4.9 earthquake which occurred on april 25. there have been no reports of damage or casualties at this time.
