Product Overview: The TapeXchange is a portable parallel printer port connected backup device. It's uniqueness allows it to be used for file server backup, as well as be available for all other backup needs (network or stand alone) since the tape unit is not permanently attached to the file server and requires no interface card to operate. Installing TapeXchange: Follow the manufactures recommended procedure for installation of TapeXchange. The software is licensed to the respective portable tape unit and as such may be installed on as many file servers or workstations as desired. TapeXchange Usage Notes: The TapeXchange tape unit and software allow the user to backup any physical or redirected drive that is connected to the PC where the TapeXchange unit is located. Therefore, to backup a disk drive on another machine requires that the remote PC must be running the LANtastic SERVER program. As an example, to backup the C: drive of a remote PC, enter the following: NET LOGIN \\ NET USE T: \\\C-DRIVE TXPLUS (Use the backup program and backup redirected drive T:) NET UNUSE T: Open File Conflicts: During the backup process, any open files are bypassed but are noted in a status log. At the termination of the backup session, the user may optionally review the log to determine which, if any, files were omitted from the backup. Prior to backing up a disk drive containing the LANtastic control directory, save the contents of the directory in a backup file by entering the command: NET_MGR Backup C:\LANtasti.net This can only be done without SERVER loaded.
