Welcome to the download calculator overview. If you want to make your life easy, but haven't got your postfile.scr running, unzip dlcalc.zip to a directory, change to that directory, and then run @icom.scr. It'll install the download calculator script as well as provide a demo, online help, etc... Otherwise, copy dlcalc.scr to your script directory and read through the following to figure out what it does. NOTE: if you want to run the download calculator from a function key, rename dlcalc.scr to one of the following: For key Rename dlcalc.scr to F2 00015360.scr F3 00015616.scr F4 00015872.scr F5 00016128.scr F6 00016384.scr F7 00016640.scr F8 00016986.scr F9 00017152.scr F10 00017408.scr Overview: The download calculator is a script which reads a selected tagger database and computes the following: Total number of files to download Total number of bytes to download Estimated download time (*) Name of the largest file to download Size of the largest file to download Name of the smallest file to download Size of the smallest file to download (*) Note: The Estimated download time can only be calculated if the average download rate has been defined. You can compute this by looking at your .use files and computing the average download CPS (characters per second). Then, enter Intellicom, select Intellicom Setup followed by File Tagger Settings and fill in your average download rate at the File Transfer Speed [CPS] prompt. The download calculator uses this variable for its calculations. Installation: This install script will automatically copy the download calculator script to your script directory. You can override the default script directory by selecting the Change Install Directory option from the main menu. By default, the script will be copied to the default script directory. Select the Install Script option of the main menu to install the script. When installing, you have the choice of either installing the download calculator as a standard script (dlcalc.scr), or it can be renamed to be executed from a function key. If you elect to install the script to execute from a function key, you will be prompted to select the desired function key. Note: If you select a function key which is already in use, you'll be prompted before overwriting. The install script will then copy the download calculator to the appropriate key code for the desired function key. For ease of use, I strongly recommend installing the download calculator to a function key. Sample Operation: Here's a sample scenario of how I use the download calculator. First, I enter Tagger and select the files that I want to download. Then, I press F10 (where I have the download calculator installed) to pop up the download calculator. It then prompts for the tagger database to search (by default this is NEWFILES). After selecting the database, the download calculator computes and displays the various download statistics. That's all there is to it! For people who don't want to run the script from a function key, press ALT-U to load the script editor and run DLCALC.SCR. Note that the script can be run at any time. Well, that's about it. And now for the payment details... Payment Options: As a lot of work went into this script (the install script took longer to write that the actual program being installed), I want: A) A million dollars B) A fridge with a lock on it C) Huuuuuuuuuge pectoral muscles Oh OK, it's yet another FREE script. Anyone who wants money for writing rinkydink scripts needs their head examined. Enjoy! P.S.
