LAREM-NET QWK Mail Network The LAREM-NET is a "NETWORK" of Bulletin Board Systems, transferring mail via .QWK and .REP packets. Terms You Will Need To Know: Node : A Node is simply any BBS that is receiving mail from the LAREM-NET. All Nodes MUST transfer their mail to either the AREA HUB or the NETWORK HUB. Which ever one is closest or the cheaper phone call. Only on certain occasions will a NODE be permitted to go through a NODE HUB to transfer mail. (See Figure A for an example) Node Hub : A Node Hub only exists on certain occasions. For example, when a NODE is not local to the Area Hub OR the Network Hub but they ARE local to another node that is Local to either the Network Hub or the Area Hub, then the node they are local to is allowed to be given Node Hub status, only by approval of the Net-Voice, and the node may continue mail transfers indirectly through the Node Hub. A Node Hub may NOT transfer mail with another Node Hub. They Must go directly to the Area Hub. (See Figure A for an example) The Node hub, in-turn, may be given Area Hub status if they: 1) Are willing to call the Network Hub whether it is a local call or not. 2) If they have a sufficient amount of nodes contributing to their mail transfers. 3) If a Node below them receives node Status. Condition #1 must ALWAYS be met. If either conditions 2 or 3 exist then the Node Hub would be considered for Area Hub Status. Area Hub : An Area Hub is where ALL Nodes and Node Hubs report to. Area Hubs are NOT allowed to transfer their Mail to another Area Hub. An Area Hub MUST be willing to call the Network Hub, whether it is a local call or not, to transfer that days mail. Exceptions would be made in the most extreme circumstances. (See Figure A for an example) The Current and only AREA HUB for LAREM-NET is: My NightMare! BBS (609) 399-5708 / 399-6268 Located in: Ocean City, NJ. NetWork Hub: A Network Hub is the HOME BASE or Head Quarters of the LAREM-NET. There is only ONE of these. And all AREA HUBS transfer their mail to this site. A Node Hub is also permitted to relay their mail to this site. The Network Hub for LAREM-NET is: ErgoNet BBS (609) 729-8227 / 522-3297 Located in: Wildwood, NJ. Net-Voice : The Network Voice, from now on referred to as the (NV), is the title assign to the TWO fellows who Started and Run this Net, Lou Bonaventura, and Ray Cava. We control and discuss what goes on in this Network, which includes but is not limited to: Allowing new Nodes into the network, Allowing new conferences and any other administrative decision that must be made. Of Course, input from Node Sysops and Hub Sysops is always welcome. Area-Hub SysOp : Any SysOp who is an Area Hub SysOp on this network, from now on referred to as (AHS). Area Hub SysOp are usually assigned by the calling areas to which they are local and to which nodes they are local to. The NV will usually at times converse with the AHSs on topics concerning the Net. Things you MUST have: - PKZ204G.EXE (The latest PKWare ,ZIP, Archiving utilities.) - If you are an AREA HUB or a NODE HUB, you will need a QWK mail door capable of giving NET STATUS. - A .QWK mail transfer program, such as TNet or Rnet or even a few others which I do not as of now know about. Rules you MUST follow : - You are not permitted to provide HUB services of any type to any nodes, unless authorized by the NV. Violators are subject to suspension from the network, after previous attempts of resolving the problem have not been facilitated. - Anybody knowingly providing HUB services to nodes which have been suspended from the network will suffer a suspension of their privileges from the network. - Foul language is not permitted in any conference. Foul lang can best be described as any language which is not deemed socially acceptable, or (foul) language which is not readily available to a person reading the news paper. Constant abuse of this rule will result in suspension of messaging privileges. You name will be placed in a file and your messages will be stripped from any further mail packets automatically. - Anybody knowingly providing messaging privileges to a suspended caller, will be suspended from the network. - NOBODY is permitted to discuss ANY Illegal activity over the network. (Please don't plan a bank robbery or use the conferences to transfer pirated material... I think you all understand what I am saying) (Figure A) --------------- | Network Hub | --------------- | ========================== | | ------------ ------------ | Area Hub | | Area Hub | ------------ ------------ | | =========================== ======================= | | | | | | | | ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ |Node| |Node| |Node| |Node| |Node| |Node| |Node| |Node| ------ ------ ------ |HUB | ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ <----------------------+ | | ==================== | | | This Node Hub would =========== =========== be considered as an | | | | area hub since there ------ ------ ------ ------ is a sufficient amount |Node| |Node| |Node| |Node| of nodes below it with |Hub | ------ ------ ------ one acting as a Node ------<-------+ Hub. | | ============ \This Node Hub MAY NOT be a Node Hub Unless | | the Node Hub above it achieves AREA HUB ------ ------ Status. |Node| |Node| ------ ------ ^ ^ | | |___________|___ (These Nodes Are Local To Only One Other Node that is local to the Area HUB. So that Node, only if conditions permit may be considered as a node hub.) All mail transfers must follow this logical order of mail relay for a collection of mail at the Network Hub or any of the Area Hubs.
