-------------------------------------- Sysop's Introduction to Northwest Link -------------------------------------- Let's face it! Life in the Pacific NorthWest is different than anywhere else. We have common interests, a great quality of life, and the greatest people on the planet. We need a netmail system just for us. Hence the creation of NorthWest Link. First, you must be able to handle QWK/REP compatible net mail on your system. Programs such as Qnet, Tnet, etc will handle the exporting/ importing of messages betwwen your BBS and your hub. If you are a hub, you will need a mail door program such as QMail, TomCat, MarkMail, Cam-Mail, etc so any BBS below you can transfer messages with you. Second, you must be willing to maintain a new net mail system. We will never have thousands of messages per day, but we will have messages that are from local users and BBS's. Mail transfers using automated systems such as Robocomm and Telix scripts are extremely easy, and are preferred. There will be NO heavy policing of conferences and there will be only ONE administration and TWO public conferences that must be carried. No aliases, no profanity or vulgarity, no personal attacks, stay within conference topic. Other than that, you're on your own. Northwest Link is very favorable to requests for additional conferences. We realize that not every conference will have mail daily, but only as needed. We don't believe in deleting a conference just because it didn't get 100 messages that month. A conference should be there to be used as needed and when it is needed. More conferences as we grow! How do you join? It's easy. Fill out a NorthWest Link Application form and post it AS A SYSOP COMMENT (private message to the Sysop) in the main message area of a BBS belonging to NorthWest Link. That sysop will forward the application to the NorthWest Link Steering Committee. Or you can post the application directly into the NWL ADMIN conference. You will be assigned to use a NWL member board as your "hub". That board will take your messages and add them to other messages and transfer (by high-speed modems) those messages to the NetHub. Every time you call your hub, you will pick up new mail that is from the rest of the network and place it on your BBS. Come join us on a great net just for us. Last Revised: 10 Jan 1994
