This package contains a converter that allows
Microsoft Word 2.0 for Windows to read files
created by Microsoft Word 6.0 for Windows.
This converter is intended for users of Word
2.0 who don't yet have access to Word 6.0.

If this shipment has arrived in
unsatisfactory condition, please let us know.

To use the converter, follow the setup
instructions included in this letter. If you
have questions about installing or using the
converter, one of our Product Support

Outside the United States, contact your local
Microsoft subsidiary.

Setup Instructions:

1. Start Microsoft Windows.

2. From the Program Manager File menu,
   choose Run.

3. Type the following and press ENTER

      <path>\setup

   where <path> is the location of the Word
   6.0 for Windows File Converter Kit setup
   files. For example:

      c:\winword\setup

4. Follow the directions in the Word 6.0 for
   Windows File Converter setup program.

Release Notes:

 - This converter will not run under Windows
   3.0. This is because Word 6.0 for Windows
   uses object linking and embedding (OLE)
   2.0 for file storage, so several OLE 2.0
   files are required for the converter to
   read Word 6.0 for Windows files. These OLE
   files are not guaranteed to work under
   Windows 3.0.

 - Note that those formatting features added
   in Word 6.0 for Windows that did not exist
   in Word 2.0 will not be retained in
   conversion.

 - This converter requires SHARE.EXE to be
   loaded on your system if you are running
   Word 2.0 for Windows under Windows 3.1.
   SHARE is not required under Windows for
   Workgroups version 3.1 or 3.11. Under
   Windows 3.1, the Word 6.0 for Windows
   Converter Setup program automatically
   installs SHARE.EXE in your AUTOEXEC.BAT
   file if SHARE.EXE is not already
   installed.
