STRAPS for INSTEP - 1st ROW: With right side facing you and counting from heel, skip 2 sts of sole. attach thread in back lp of next st. ch 2. h dc in back lp of each of next 7 sts; ch 2. turn. STRAPS for INSTEP - 2nd ROW: Skip first h dc. h dc in next 7 sts; ch 2, turn. Repeat last row 10 times more. Break off, leaving 1" end for sewing. Make another strap on other side of sole in same manner. Cross straps over instep and sew ends to edge of sole. SOLE TRIM: See General Directions and work with same color. TIES: See General Directions and work with same color. EMBROIDERY: Following photograph, embroider a flower and leaves with lazy daisies and French knots on strap. The End
