The enclosed 'Firecat' font is a font of slightly flaming black letters; under certain conditions the letters look more furry than they do fiery. The font contains minimal characters: an alphabet, letters and punctuation, but no more. David Rakowski created the font solely for the title page of his piece 'Firecat' for flute and piano (premiered in Carnegie Recital Hall in January, 1994); the only characters really worked on were the letters in the word "Firecat;" the rest are in the font for the sake of completeness. The Firecat font was placed into the public domain by its creator, David Rakowski, in September, 1994. No restrictions are placed on the transfer of this font by any means whatsoever. The author will not support this font, neither will he prohibit its use for any purpose whatsoever. The font was originally released to Compuserve's DTPFORUM in Macintosh PostScript Type 1 format and PC PostScript and TrueType; the PC versions were tested and approved by Eileen Wharmby, your advocate.
