Unique Identifier : AIDSLINE ASM94/94313089 AB In this study we correlated the isotype and specificity of the IgG antibody response from 100 Puerto Rican HIV-infected patients with the treatment which they were given. Western Blots have been performed to determine the isotype as well as protein specificity of antibodies contained in the patient's serum. Clinical data like sex, age, rate of infection, stage according to the classification of CDC, number of T-CD4 cells, antiviral treatment and treatment against opportunistic infection were collected from patient's records that were treated in P.R. Concra. The detection of isotypes by Western Blots allowed an evaluation of the host response to specific viral proteins and the effect of drug therapy in the humoral response. The results of this work would be a useful tool for finding of the best treatment against the infection by HIV-1. The treatment which increases the reactivity of isotypes like IgG1, and IgG3 which have an important role in defense as neutralizing antibodies and anti-HIV ADCC, have been determined.
