This Home Care Program is currently implemented in the province of Valencia in the framework of the Department of Activities and Services of the Red Cross of Spain. It is entirely finnanced by the Local Government (Conselleria de Salut-Valencia). During the last year 98 patients have entered the program, who generated 145 admittances. 84.6% are males and 15.13% are females. Parenteral drug abusers is the most frequent risk practice (63%), followed by homosexuals (16%). Most frequent diagnosis at admittance is PCP (22%), cerebral Toxoplasmosis and extralung tuberculosis. Total stays were 6290. Members of the team performed 4373 visits number to patients homes of which 56.2% were nurses visits. We are saving days of hospital stay and hospital costs. We rationalized use of hospital and humanized health assistance of AIDS patients. The high degree of aceptance and the positive opinion from users support the service go on.
