PB0781). Unique Identifier : AIDSLINE ICA10/94371404 AB OBJECTIVE: To determine CMV-infection incidence among HIV-patients in Russia and relations between serological markers and clinical signs of CMV-infection. MATERIALS AND METHODS: During 1993 110 pts. have been examined: 94 adults, 16 children (LAP--32; ARC--60; AIDS--18) for anti-CMV IgM and IgG with ELISA. RESULTS: In 5 pts. (4.5%), including 2 children, have not been revealed anti-CMV of both classes. Anti-CMV IgM have been revealed in 26 (24.8%) pts. (LAP--3; ARC--15; AIDS--8). Dinamic titres of anti-CMV IgG in this pts. were different. 1-st group (14 pts.--53.8%) had either increase or repeated high titres of anti-CMV IgG. In this group presented pneumonia (9), colitis (5), retinitis (3); in 5 pts. have been revealed combination of these syndroms. 2-nd group (2 pts. 7.7%) had not anti-CMV IgG at first examination, but in clinical manifestation they showed pharyngitis, increase of neck lymphatic nodes, hepato-splenomegalia. After 2-3 months they showed appearance of anti-CMV IgG in high titres. 3-rd group (7.7%--2 AIDS pts. with clinical signs of CMV-infection: retinitis, pneumonia, colitis and number of CD4 < 20 x 10(6)/l) had steadfast decrease of anti-CMV IgG titres. 4-th group (8 pts.-30.8%) had low anti-CMV IgG titres without tendency to change and minimum clinical signs. The rest of all (79 pts.-75.2%) pts. (in 6 of them were anti-CMV IgG and in 4 of them had increase of anti-CMV IgG more than 4 times) had not clinical manifestations of CMV-infection. CONCLUSION: 95.5% examened HIV-pts. In Russia have CMV-infection, and in the majority of pts. (77.3%) it has latent course. Increase of anti-CMV IgG titres and availability of anti-CMV IgM can show the relaps of diseases. It requires more reliable testing (virological, histological). Results are being studied at present time. Decrease of anti-CMV IgG titres in pts. with retinitis can be conditioned by deficiency of immune response in terminal AIDS stage.
