PD0079). Unique Identifier : AIDSLINE ICA10/94370416 AB OBJECTIVE: evaluate knowledge on prevention and acquisition of TB by HCP at TRC-AIDS for future educational interventions and diagnostic procedures. METHODS: we applied an anonymous and voluntaire questionnaire with 21 questions to all 328 HCP. We analysed risk of exposure, school level, and professional categories. Ninety nine (39.5%) HCP were in direct care of patients; 182 (72.5%) knew someone with a history of TB. In this group, 25 (29.4%) of direct care professionals the person who had TB was not a close relation. One hundred and eighty three (72.9%) HCP wanted to do the test for searching TB status in themselves. About the knowledge of routes of transmission, we found correct answers in only 16 (57.3%) practical nurses, of these 14 (30.8%) believed in TB transmission by handgrip, fomites or blood and body fluids (like HIV); 14 (73.7%) physicians and 4 (44.4%) nurses had knowledge of predisposing factors. Nine (3.6%) HCP had TB in the past, of which 7 were in current case. DISCUSSION: it is necessary to improve educational programs, according to professional categories and degrees of difficulties. There are indicators of prejudice or a tendency to consider the patient far away, that could interfere in future actions. We worried about the number of HCP who had TB.
