Unique Identifier : AIDSLINE ICA10/94370410 AB OBJECTIVES: The present study is oriented to the generation of New Preventive Medicine including the dream of traditional one and also to the development of educational theory and research methodology for their practical applications. METHODS: In order to cope with the above contemporary needs, General Network (GN) Approach being developed by our study group in 1986 was introduced for the development of New Preventive Medicine which should be an alternative scientific foundation for the recovery of humanity with particular to living with AIDS. A series of our educational studies on AIDS prevention for past four years (1991-94) in Japan as well as Thailand was the subject matters for the present study; three major groups such as medical and health workers including general public. RESULTS: The three major consecutive studies were carried out as follows; 1. The sensory understanding on five major steps of paradigm shift from traditional to new one in terms of preventive medicine for common sharing. 2. Structuring and functioning on New Preventive Medicine with particular to Quality of Life and Bio-ethics for education. 3. Educational studies on systems feasibility, case caring assessment and population evaluation as quality assurance in healthcare. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: It was realized through the present study that this educational and research systems should be New Health Paradigm which does not neglect any existent approaches and also could be equally applied for community problem solvings such as mental health or geriatric care. The educational introduction of Role Playing on AIDS caring and curing in the community settings was definitely proved to be effective for the social realization on living with AIDS spirits among participants from the viewpoint of bio-ethical recovering. The further development of educational systems on New Preventive Medicine or New Health Paradigm was identified in terms of common sense understanding on paradigm shift for the era of living with AIDS.
