Unique Identifier : AIDSLINE ICA10/94370321 AB OBJECTIVE: To determine the HIV status, and other co-factors of mother of children who were infected during a measles epidemic in 1992. METHODS: Interviews and blood samples were taken from 205 mother of children who died of measles complication, 200 mothers who's children had measles and and 230 mothers who's didn't have measles. RESULTS: Seven samples (1.3%) were positive to ELISA and WESTERN BLOT. Out of the positive mothers 5 had children who died and 2 mothes who's children had measles and didn't died three (43%) of the children that died were less than 6 month old. DISCUSSION: This study yield that the probability of dieyig during a measles epidemic is 2.4 times higher in a children infected with HIV, compared with those HIV negative.
