Unique Identifier : AIDSLINE ICA10/94369596 AB OBJECTIVES: To determine the importance of treating the steady couple of HIV (+) patients to prevent the oral candidiasis recurrences. METHODS: 70 HIV (+) patients with CD4 levels < 300 were studied during 1 year. 30 patients are inmates of a penitentiary (GROUP A) The other two groups had safe sexual intercourse with the steady partner. After presenting oral candidiasis they were treated with Ketokonazole. The steady partners of 20 of these patients having sexual contact were treated simultaneously with the same therapeutic protocol (GROUP C). The response to the treatment and the number of recurrences have been studied. The results have been analyzed with the ANOVA test. RESULTS: A significant statistic difference can be observed between groups A/C with B, for the average of recurrences. And the resistences. The response to the treatment was good in all groups. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: More and more studies reflecting the antifungals resistances are published. By us the oral candidiasis be haves in the similar way to vaginal candidiasis, for what we think it would also benefit from the simultaneous treatment of the steady partner.
